Minted lamb, pigs in blankets, carrot and swede mash, honey roasted parsnips, mashed potato, roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings and minted gravy with juices from the roasted lamb.

Ye’, pigs in blankets aren’t a common thing for lamb but they are good so I wanted some.

Nah it’s all good. A lot of the time I scrape through on minimal food as I work constant nights.

I hadn’t eaten since this morning when I had two bacon and egg butties 13 hours ago.

It all came out just perfect. The lamb just fell apart as I put it on the plate and when I cut into it. The roast potatoes were just the right amount of crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside without being tough outside and chalky on the inside.

It’s regular lamb but it’s salt marsh lamb season so will have to pop out to by butcher and get some.

IMO, It’s something worth looking into. I am by no means a doctor and I am a bit of an idiot. But there is alot of new research being done about dietary cholesterol that is pretty interesting and seems to be the exact opposite of what has been believed in the past.

You don’t have a real butcher in your area? Where are you?

Mine is Cranstons and has been going since 1914.

Kinja'd!!!

They have six shops in North Cumbria and also sell local produce and fine wines.

I don’t always get chance to enjoy good food working nights so when I do, I like to do it properly, it’s a bit more effort in the cooking to make it, but it’s worth it .

I am basically in northern Alabama, Southern Illinois in the states. Deep in the heart of Trump county, cousin fucking, and meth.

There is a butcher close by, his business seems to be cutting up deer and ducks d uring hunting season and selling re-packaged Wal-Mart meat. I have gone in there a couple of times and bought Venison, everything else he has seems to be absolute shite.

(I am so h appy I got to use shite)

Another great looking meal. I’ve decided to go with a mostly liquid dinner, so all I’ve had so far is a lot of sake and a couple of egg sandwiches. I have some frozen dumplings (pork and chives, pork and shrimp fillings) that I may cook later.

I would of thought there would of been a lot of local butchers using locall y raised livestock and produce.

I don’t buy anything but sausages from my walmart (I work for the U.K. arm of the company* ), in fact we say ‘shite’ a lot, as in when we walk into work we say, ‘same shite, different night’.

*we sell locally produced products in store such as butchery and bakery products.

No, just a very tangy shrimp appetizer. We tried every Indian restaurant that delivers when we moved back in in early 2007, and this one never fails to please. They must spend money on the food, because they sure didn’t spend it on that website.

Depressingly enough most farms in the states have turned into industrial farms and there are very few moms and pop deals left. We have one restaurant locally that does farm to table meat, the same person owns the farm and the restaurant, it’s a little expensive and they only serve farm to table beef, but it’s 100% worth it. I could be completely wrong, but it seems like most of the family farms left in the states work with one or a few restaurants. It seems to be hard to find, at least where I live, any fresh meat. Weirdly enough, I think it would be easier to find a good butcher in cities where people have the money to spend on quality meat.

I grew up about 2 hours north of where I live now, when I was a kid my Mom and Grandparents would buy a whole cow and pig from a local farmer they knew from church. The local butcher had a cool deal where he would slaughter it and weigh all the meat from the animals we bought and sell it fresh. But we could go in about once a week and he would check his list to see what we had left, so if we had 10 pounds of ribs from our pig, but only bought 2 pounds he would sell us 8 pounds of fresh ribs from a newer pig. (hope that makes sense I am a little liquored up and it makes sense to me)

I love the cursing in English speaking Europe, it is so much better than US cursing. Fuck all and shite sound so much better than anything we use here. Cunt has such bad connotations here it is basically unusable, but over there it can be used for any shitty/asshole person.

Oh man, they don’t even do onion bhajis.

You guys need to come over some time, you can’t fling a cat without it hitting a good Indian takeaway or restaurant. There are two at the end of my street alone.

Enjoy mate.

There are some butchers closing down as some new ones come to the scene but yes, the majority of meat is bought at supermarkets by people convenience shopping.

Places like Cranstons, etc... are more expensive but only marginally so.

There are places out in the countryside like you describe where you can buy an animal and get it slaughtered and butchered but that side is getting harder as all abattoirs are licenced and have to keep records so doing a deal for a mate or family member isn’t as cheap as it used to be.

We have a certain way with cursing, like,

‘what are you doing you facking idiot? stop it now or I’ll facking knock you spark out you tw4t’,

‘Oy, John, stop being a cunt mate’,

‘Tony mate, I love you but stop being a git before I knock your bloody head off’,

etc...
