They’re all well and good, but I suppose I should’ve mentioned that I was looking at grand touring tires rather than ultra high performance ones. :p
The minute I found that Cooper Tires makes some of their product in China, I started having second thoughts about their CS5 Ultra Touring tires. Even though those are American made.
Hmmm...

What size do you need?
What driving conditions? Does snow performance
matter, or do you have separate winter tires?

You could have asked for lawn tract or tires and these knuckleheads would still have recommended you ultra high performance on es.

Ice, wet performance, and all around handling in dry.
Snow doesn’t mean shit to me, we rarely get any in the Puget Sound
. 235/55R17 tires. I want W rated ones. I'm planning on winter tires a year from now.

Always . Always. But only after you got RPF1s.
Have a star!

235/55R17. Grand Touring, good traction in wet, dry and a bit of snow. The vredesteins are perfect and their price is nice.

I’m still offering the Falken Ziex ZE950 A/S (~$100), all-season, 65k treadwear, sure they “Say” high performance, but 50 0 treadwear says daily driver!
and the price...

Yeah, I see those. I'm not entirely sold on them though. The test numbers are good, but I wish tire rack tested the Cooper Tires.

Cool!
How urgent is the tire replacement? Can you wait until like November? Because then, you could just buy the winter tires first, then the summer tires later.
If you plan on using a dedicated set of winter tires, get summer tires for the warmer seasons. They will handle better.
If you were using one set of tires year-round, you could use one of those all-season tires with the 3-peak logo, like the Vredestein Quatrac 5 or Toyo Celsius.
Actually, you might even be able to get away with using them as winter tires if you don’t actually get any snow. They will still be good in non-snowy cold roads, and they will handle better on dry cold roads than regular winter tires.
For the summer tires, get the Sumitomo HTR Z III. They are Y-rated :o)

I noticed on tire rack at least that some of the higher end brand’s tires in ultra high and high performance all seasons were actually cheaper than their grand touring versions- Michellin, Continental . UHP tires are also rated higher for light snow and ice and wet performance so you might end up with a cheaper better tire but probably will wear more than a Grand Touring by 10k to 20kmiles

Although the Sumitomos are max performance tires which you weren’
t quite looking
for, they are a very good price and made in Japan.
You might like the Vredestein Ultrac Satin. Also Y-rated, they seem like a nice quiet tire that still has good performance and would be a great grand touring summer tire.
There’s also the Michelin Primacy HP and Primacy 3, but they are quite expensive! Same for the Bridgestone ER300 and T001
If price is important, get the Sumitomos HTR Z III
If you’re willing to spend the extra money, Michelin Primacy HP or Primacy 3

I was thinking about going with all seasons and then track tires. (Once I'm able to use the local road course)

I like the toyo all seasons we got for the Subaru. I think the are a 225/60-17. They have a very quiet ride and seem to be wearing well. They are costly tho.
