20 years old, 192k miles, engine configuration unknown. There’s a (black) passenger door in the bed and a replacement tail gate is not included. And six-foot bed. You tell me: NP0CP?

CP.  For that price, and that many miles, those parts should already be replaced.

That truck has practically zero value, IMHO. And if it’s one of those horrible early gen V6s, probably negative value.

HAHAAHAHA 3800.... leaves? 3800 tree leaves? Surely not USD

well of course is has negative value. Too many miles for nothing to be broken in the engine bay. Plus you have to put in a lot of money fixing the body. That truck is not worth 3800 in mint condition with sub 100k miles

Seriously though: if it runs, and if the passenger door opens, and if the current owner disposes of the extra bed and the extra door, I might give $800 for it.

You’re too generous. I would not take it for free. I’ve been looking for a rust bucket to wrench on, but this one is not checking any of my boxes.

Hey, 3800 leaves can buy you a lot...

If you are a cute dog, with a rough understanding about how money works:

Kinja'd!!!

(Colomb ian doggo discovered that people give money to pay for things, decided leaves were a lot like paper bills, and so now buys treats with leaves)

3800 pennies.

But not a penny more.

That doggo can have this truck. Climb in passenger side and look out of the window.

I maintain that the ‘97-’04 F-150 is perhaps the worst vehicle ever made. CP at any price!

3800 lashings, for the sheer audacity of that asking price. Wow. Thanks for stopping to take a closer look. It was worth it just for the wtf  factor.

Hard CP, it’s very likley a V6, or the 4.6 at best and no doubt a 2wd. It would be a nice truck here in the midwest simply because it’s rust free, but if you actually  brought it out to the midwest that spare rust free bed would be worth more than the entirety of the truck.

I will continue to disagree, strongly.

The styling is subjective... I personally hate it. The interiors were total crap, but at least the seats were okay. The 4.6 and 5.4 2V were mediocre engines at best and  had no place in a truck. The 4R70w was a decent transmission, the rear differentials were solid, and the overall build quality was abysmal. As far as trucks go, they’re pretty horrible to work on. They’re flimsy in a crash, they’re thirsty... I’d probably still have one over a ‘96+ GMT400, though... The GM truck looks better, but the Vortec engines were more trouble than they were worth, and the 4l60E/10-bolt combo is made of glass.

Styling is subjective yes , I happen to really like it. Interiors weren’t great, but they held up far better than any Dodge or GM of the era. The 4.6 was a miserable boat anchor, no argument there, but the 5.4 was more than competitive for the time   and the 2V will long outlive the 3V. Build quality is right on par with every other truck of the era, and IMO is still better than Dodge or GM. The 5.4 did take up a lot of engine bay, but I haven’t found it that difficult to work on.

Overall t hey’re your typical 90's truck, everything from that time was built kinda like shit. It definitely isn’t the best truck ever made, but I wouldn’t call it the worst. Look to any Dodge from the 90's/early 2000's for that title.

Wasn’t that the “new” F-150 that Ford spent more time and money researching than any other vehicle in history?

Not just CP, but downright shocking, says I. I’d want it cheap, body damage and all, and let him dispose of the extra bed. But I see no use for a six-foot bed generally.

I had a 3v ‘07 F150 back in 2011. It was a very solid truck, the 3v 5.4 made plenty of power, and it could tow anything I wanted to tow. I dumped it immediately when the spark plugs fouled.

I’d take a ‘90s Dodge with a 5 speed any day of the week!

The 3V is a wonderful engine until it decides to lunch a cam phaser. It’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when. Best case scenario you drop a phaser it makes a ticking noise forever and you eventually replace it for lots of money, worst case scenario the timing chain slaps around a bit scatters a bunch of metal around the engine and you replace an engine at 80k, which is exactly what happened to my dad. I’ve been truck shopping lately and I refuse to look at anything with the 3V simply because without paperwork showing when they were replaced, and what they were replaced with (stock, upgraded, or lock out) they’re just ticking time bombs.

A 90's Dodge with a 5 speed would be great, so long as you can stand the trash interiors. (Full disclosure I’ve been lusting after a 90's Dodge lately, quad cab with the sport appearance package, preferably blue, such good looking trucks ).

My dad somehow has 130-ish thousand miles on an extremely rusted out and neglected ‘05 3v 5.4 that's had nothing but oil changes. He told me last week he plans to keep it until the seat falls through the floor.

That’s pretty good, phasers typically go at around 100k, if they haven’t been replaced already I’d look into it, or at least a lock out kit.

I’ve got a ‘99 with the 2V, 211,000 miles, and other than the exhaust manifold studs and one plug blowout (at 185k) it’s been the best truck we’ve ever owned. It’s done plenty of hauling and towing over the years and we’ve never had a problem. I even towed our 21' boat about 600 miles a few weeks ago and it didn’t even break a sweat.

I’m pretty sure if he had to spend more than $25 on it he’d scrap it. It’s a total farm/winter beater at this point. He just traded in his minty ‘03 Duramax for a ‘16 Ram, so he has a nice truck, too. This is just there to smell like horses and dogs while taking the brunt of the winter salt. The old man still has the mentality that a vehicle is only good for 100k miles. He got rid of the Duramax because the cluster started acting up... It just rolled 100k miles. Then again, the LB7 isn't without its very expensive issues.
