Apparently my paint correction last month did more damage than correcting, and somehow I didn’t notice until today

Kinja'd!!!

The tape lines were covering the gap. Just shows how crappy and hazy the paint looks.

I’m going to test another polishing pass tonight. I fear it’s time for professionals, because I clearly don’t know what I'm doing.

There are different ways to get the results, but it all comes down to less and less aggressive compounds and less and less aggressive pads. I have good luck with the meguiars stepped products.

I typically can get away with just a fine cut then swirl remover and be good to go. But if I had to wetsand with 3000 or worse, I normally break out the wool pad on a rotary with the medium cut polish. That will get rid of sanding scratches and then back on to the fine cut with a microfiber pad and the swirl remover with a microfiber pad.

If I had a more powerful machine, I could do what Larry Kozilla does and just use a couple products in lieu of the medium cut and the wool rotary. That bad boy does some work in a hurry.

You just may need to experiment a bit with what works to see what steps you need to do.

I did that with my truck a couple years back, and that’s how I settled on my regime.  And even that won’t get it perfect, but mine are all drivers, so protection is the name of the game for me.  Eventually you just have to stop too.

That looks like compound haze. What were the products, pads, and steps you used?

And if you weren’t using a color match light with the right temperature then the light will hide that stuff. Either you spend a butt ton of money on lights, or you check it in the sun with no clouds.

What materials did you use?

Yeah, I’m sure that’s what it is. I used Meg’s newish MF pad and compound/polish combo. Just ordered some more M205 and white foam pads to correct out the haze.

Meguiar’s microfiber pads and D300/D100(?) compound/polish. Ordered some lake country white pads and M205 to clear up the haze.

I've learned the hard way you're going to work against yourself if you don't constantly clean the pad or get a new one. But that's just a tip. The haze is just from not polishing it out enough. But M205 and a white Rupes foam pad should get the haze out and make it look great.
