It pains me to say this, because I really, really wanted to hate them.

I love AirPods more than I ever thought it was possible to love earbuds. Apple has spent the last few years fucking everything up, but I feel MagSafe-levels* of inappropriate  love for these things and how perfectly they work

* Which OF COURSE they’re phasing our. Because they’re the worst.

AirPods are indeed great. I lost my first set (sigh, as many predicted) but I was quick to buy another one. The effectively infinite battery life is amazing.

I’m not convinced Magsafe is going away. The Macbook is targeted at people who want maximum portability, which wouldn’t include having a power plug running at all times.

I got a pair of bluetooth headphones after not wanting them for a long time. I absolutely love them.

Mag-safe was the greatest invention since sliced bread.

Someone told me about how they pause when you take one out and I was instantly sold. I was really hesitant to buy anything that wasn’t in-ear, especially since I hate the ones that come bundled with the phones, but I’ve had zero problems.

I want to believe that so much, but the Pro doesn’t have it either. That said, I’m sure they’ll find a way to reintroduce USB-C MagSafe and use it as a selling point.

I really can’t imagine spending that much for a pair of headphones, especially considering how frequently my various wired earbuds end up falling out of my ears.

My wireless headphones are this no-name $35 pair:

Kinja'd!!!

Certainly not as stylish as the A irP ods, and battery life is probably less than 4 hours, which is too short for some things (I use a $45 pair of wired noise cancelling earbuds for travel for example). That said, I love not having wires, they are quite secure, and sound quality is good enough for me (though for the price, I assume it is objectively not very good).

Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t AirPods just the crappy regular Apple earbuds that sound mediocre at best and don’t seal in your ears, but with the wires removed?

I really thought I would notice the lower audio quality. Then again, my first MP3 player had 128mbs and I listened to everything in 128kbps, so obviously I did not need to worry about that.

Ouch, I didn’t realize the Pro dropped it too. That is depressing .

The only issues I’ve had with the AirPods are switching sources reliably. It’s still just a little flaky when jumping between my iPhone, iPad, and MacBook Pro.

That’s what I thought, but someone let me use theirs and the sound quality is significantly better than that garbage.  They don’t seal, but somehow they don’t let in noises nearly as bad as the regular ones. I’m tempted to buy after-market silicon tips for them, though.

They’re still obnoxiously geared towards being bass-heavy, though.

Yeah, the price was a bitter pill to swallow, but I used the same pair of headphones for six years, so I figured I could splurge after those broke.

I finally broke down and bought a pair a couple months ago because the earpiece on my phone is completely worthless - even more worthless than factory; I can’t hear a damn thing any more

It really pains me to say that I love the stupid gimmicky little fuckers.  I don’t know how I lived without them

The long, white part that dangles downward isn’t a good look imo. Saw an older, ( trying way too hard to be cool)  guy wearing them and thought he was wearing bangle earrings as he walked past me in the grocery store. Probably not the look he was going for, but...

Maybe in black or grey, but that white just pops too hard for my liking in that particular application.

Ugh. Yeah. I have a USB-C MacBook and while I’m generally fine with it, I really miss that convenience. But being able to plug in either side is pretty nice.

I was on an 8 hour call yesterday. Used one side till it started it’s ‘I’m dying’ chime, swapped to the other side, didn’t miss a beat. The charge pod is awesome

I’m totally confused how Apple got a patent on it though. Things like electric deep fryers have used similar magnetic connectors for half a century.

It’s definitely something that would be useful on all laptops though.

Read some reviews, even with Android phones they are one of the best Bluetooth headphones on the market.

I’ve had mine since January and love them. They are super convenient, have amazing battery life and half the time I forget I even have them in my ears.  Walking down any busy NYC street you will see at least 1 pair every 5 mins, they have pretty much taken over.

They are pretty great for workouts too. I use them at the gym with my Apple Watch and leave my phone in the locker.

Just an FYI you can go to Bluetooth settings on your phone and change what the double tap functions do. My left is for Siri and my right is for next track.

Comparatively at least. I can assure you that they are a good deal more stylish than mine, which are weird chunky things . To be honest, I’ve always been surprised that Beats even makes headphones with that form-factor because it is so clunky looking (theirs aren’t fully wireless though).

I’ve been going back and forth on these for a while because I am a cheap bastard. However, I may have to bite the bullet, because I’m not listening near as much as I would if I had good buds. Thing with these it, they hurt me if I really push them in, so I won’t.

What I really love is noise canceling, but the only viable bluetooth noise canceling on the marker it Bose, and I just can’t pay for those.

I mean, you gotta hide all the hardware somewhere... Probably w on’t be long before wireless headphones will be basically invisible within your ear.

The ambient noise isn’t nearly bad as I thought it would be, and this is coming from someone who has always used in-ear buds. That said, I haven’t taken them on a plane yet.

I might be leaving Apple soon. My MacBook Pro is 5 years old and I’m not sure I’ll buy another mac when this one dies. I like my iPhone but I have to reset it about once a day to keep it working and it’s a 3 month old iPhone 8. I feel like their hardware isn’t as good as it used to be. They are removing features and ports and adding stupid things like the touch bar which hasn’t caught on and is gimmicky. I like the Mac OS but don’t think I can afford or want to pay the price for a new MacBook Pro when I have to make so many compromises with the hardware.

I’m in the same boat. I have a five year old MacBook Air that I specced out at a stupid premium. It still does everything I could want quickly, but I wouldn’t buy anything else that Apple currently offers unless it was out of total desperation. I almost bought a MBP with USB ports after they introduced the Touch Bar, but now that’s gone.

I also hate the new keyboard with a passion.

I’m still using an iPhone 6s, despite the fact that I’ve previously owned the 3g, 3s, 4, 4s, 5, and 6. I used to update almost every year, but I just can’t be bothered to upgrade to a 7, 8, or X.

I love OSX and it’s the one thing guaranteed to keep me with Apple , but I’m sure they’re going to screw it up and some point and that will be the end of Apple for me.

That’s the time I really want noise canceling. Of course, I’m also working on a strategy of eliminating my business travel, which would have the added benefit of saving money . Sadly, increased professional success is incompatible with that program.

Personally I’m waiting for true wireless ear buds to support aptX before I buy any. I have some cheap SoundPeats b luetooth gym headphones with a wire, and they sound surprisingly good with aptX. They were like 20 bucks. Supposedly the newest Qualcomm chipset for true wireless will add aptX, just a matter of it rolling out to actual products.

Since the main place I use bluetooth headphones is at the gym, I want as much noise blockage as possible.

Yeah it’s frustrating and I don’t see it getting better anytime soon. I played with a surface book 2 at Best Buy and it seemed pretty cool today but those are expensive too. But it separates into a tablet and has a full touch screen and has discrete graphics on board which would be nice for my photo editing.
