The
DSM
urges anyone who bought one of these to be committed, as they are a danger both to themselves and those around them.

I always wanted to buy this vintage Avenger to do a RWD Mopar V8 swap.

I prefer my DSMs to have removable roofs

Daytona.
You could even get a kit right from Mopar to do it:

Get one with the 6Gxx engine (aka 2.5L V6), they are easy to mod and the V6 has decent grunt.

Auto only though :(

I used to have one I smashed up the front end on. I had big dreams in high school, but I was still restoring my Charger and my parents wanted it out of their yard. Maybe one day.

I have an irrational love for these cars, always thought they were great looking. V8, RWD swap would be amazing.

Good luck finding one now. I looked long and hard in college. I finally found a part number in microfiche and it was no longer available. The kit basically was just a K member and a list of other mopar parts to source (carav an steering knuckles flipped side to side).

Yeah, all of the projects I’ve had evicted for that reason... Well only a couple, but still.

Aside from the engine, what else?

Well if you wanna get uber technical, no, its not a ‘true’ DSM. Its also a JX platform. The design of the platform and running gear was heavily influenced by mitsubishi , and shares a lot of similarities with the DSM cars, the Galant, etc.
Then again the LH cars borrowed a lot from the Renault based Eagle Medallion/Dodge Monaco.

Actually had a line on 2 of them a few years ago when I was toying with the idea for my old Acclaim.

It’s a 604 variant. Have the TCM remapped or do the relearn on it. They offer quick shifts and take a lot of abuse when taken care of.

I was always understood DSMs to be the shared platforms built in their Normal, Illinois plant, like the coupes. So anything not built there, or not have a Mitsubishi equivalent , wouldn’t be a DSM. But that’s just my take on it. I’m not sure if the Compass/Patriot would be considered DSM or not.

I wanted to do one for my Shadow.
