So much for those plans - thanks, UPS

Ordered some detailing supplies and an oil change for the crown vic on Amazon on Monday night , 2-day shipping somehow worked out to Thusday delivery . I planned to give the RX7 a much needed svending and change the oil in the crown vic today (so thursday delivery was fine ) .

Thursday I got an email saying it was delayed by UPS. Figuring it’d be here Friday, I thought nothing of it (hey, things happen). It didn’t arrive.

This morning I have an email from Amazon saying I’ve been refunded and it was returned to them by UPS! Got on the phone (their support by phone is actually pretty good) to see what was going on. All they could find out was “damaged” - if it was damaged enough that UPS returned it, I’d be really curious to know what happened! My guess is they managed to split the 5qt jug of oil...

What gets me is that if they had let me know on Thursday “hey this is going back to Amazon” I could have ordered the stuff again and had it arrive today (because 2-day shipping).

I’ve re-placed the order but of course it won’t be here until Monday or Tuesday (the oil is slower for some reason) - so long as they don’t destroy it again and not tell me for a couple days.

having worked in parcel post (dpd not ups) oh yeah

using the loaders normal care and gentleness they split the jug throwing it into the trailer... said oil probably took out a whole bunch of other parcels on its way to near you where it was found broken and returned.

i spent a lot of time sliding around in oil slicked trailers as the people sending jugs of oil dont think they need bubble wrap and the people loading them dont give a shit... i mean.. we used to happily throw tvs... anything not wrapped proper doesnt stand a chance

here ill show ya the s.o.p

(course this person still broke s.o.p by doing it in sight of people not employed by the company)

I know the feeling too well.

Got e-mails saying it was on way, then the night before saying it’ll get delivered the next day, waited till the next morning for the delivery time slot, then nothing. The next day I checked to see if anyone else signed for it or took it in (this point it was a day before I needed the item).

Got an e-mail from the sender to ask if I wanted a refund or replacement, I phoned to be told one of the bottles was damaged and the parcel was on it’s way back to the. It had made it all the way down from North East Scotland to the UPS delivery depot THREE STREETS FROM MY HOUSE and they couldn’t let me know themselves.

I had to rush a get next day delivery from another supplier who charges more, I don’t get a discount with and had to pay a large next day delivery fee.

UPS, screw you.

Better a large consumer jug of oil than a medium sized industrial vat of chemicals leaking out the bottom unbeknownst to the driver as their truck rolls down the freeway.

My skin in this shipping game is how a two dollar part can ship from mainland China in under two days, but it takes an entire business week, 5 days, for a package to circulate through NYC before actually moving.

moving between sorting centres inside nyc would be my guess till it gets to one near you

but also sounds like your postie system sucks somewhat

also... worst ive found was a 40 gallon barrel of massage oil that broke... anything floor level in that trailer was a goner..... we had fun skating around in it once we cleared all the parcels tho

Lot of suspicious wives that evening I gather.

Yes, priority first class mail here is the model of efficiency in some places and downright continen tal in others. The same applies to all of the other package delivery companies.
