I don’t normally pick up service manuals since they are generally for something dull like a ‘96 Taurus that no enthusiast would care about. This one was a little different and figured someone here could use it. You can have it for the cost of shipping; I'll eat the purchase price, which was probably less than a quarter...

Do I need to buy an Acura Legend if I take it?

Need to? No.
You GET to.

What you should do with that is take it and stick it in your bathroom in a drawer. When you run out of TP, use the Haynes instead. That’ll be a greater use of it than as a repair manual.

Now maybe if it covered the Sterling versions
you’d have some takers.

No, but it brought up very fond memories of my first car, a 1987 (first year in NA) Acura Legend - non L version. 2.5L V6, 5 speed, cloth seats, no sunroof. Man, that V6 could rev. Good times.
Basically just like this but without the sunroof.

I bought a Haynes manual for when I get my FIAT 126p and have read it over a few times, it seems very detailed and useful to me?

No but I still want it. I think repair manuals for cars I dont own are toilet reading gold. When you find that the bolts for the ignition coil are in a weird in accessible place you can just sit there laughing to yourself.

Please speak more about how much they suck. Its the truth.
My latest hatred for their garbage is this one. It covers 6 years 4wd and 2wd and 6 engines of many genrations of engines some gasoline some diesel. And they do it all in 288 pages with some black and white photos on crappy preschool art class grade newsprint. It’s almost useless.

I tend to agree - Haynes manuals are essentially garbage. I can figure out most repairs on my own, more or less, only referring to a manual when I can’t figure something out. When I have used a Haynes it never helped with my particular issue, and basically just covered to most simple, superficial shit.
It’s funny you mention keeping it in the bathroom. For a fiver I picked up their 747 manual and have been glancing through it during my morning dump. Like the car repair manuals, there’s not a whole lot in there that’s new to me having spent years around these beasts on the ramp and otherwise. It’s a light read and filled with pretty pictures, and at that hour and during that task I'm not really interested in anything deep or heavy...

Back in the day I wanted a first gen Legend coupe, Granada black metallic I think. Gorgeous.
Then I had a boss that drove one, red with gold trim, with a plate that read USCDR92. Yeah, he got his doctorate at USC in 1992, and this kind of soured me on the car a bit, although I probably would have been OK as long as I didn’t get a red one...

Probab ly better on old cars. I got the Haynes for my Mk3 new for about $4 to do a specific repair. The whole guide was “this repair is complex. Take it to a mechanic.” I got the Bentley and it told me how to and it wasn’t even that hard.
Also I love the 126. When do you pl an to get one?

There is a Haynes manual for my 2009 Hyundai Accent as well but I never bothered to get it as I have digital copies of 3 different manuals for that.
As for the 126, I have the money saved already, but my living situation and job situation still haven’t changed enough to let me import one yet (I still live at home while trying to find a permanent full-time job with my Bachelor of Education degree and we have no garage or shed to keep it safe in). Hoping maybe in the next year or two?

Best of luck on the job search! I’ve heard the Dakotas pay teachers better than anywhere else. Downside is you’ll be in the Dakotas.
How much does a 126 go for nowadays?

Thanks! I’m up here in Canadialand (Nova Scotia, specifically). :)
Uh....I’ve seen some for decent ones for
sale here in Canada already imported for like $7k-10k CAD. To import one? If you can find somebody or a shop to find you one, plus import fees, shipping, etc, I’m told I should be able to get one in MINT
shape straight from Poland for around $6K CAD.

Ah, somewhere they actually pay educators. I think it would make more
sense to go the already imported route, unless any importing fees and taxes are negligible.

Eh, you have far more choice and more guarantee of a better car if you go the imported route with a shop finding the car for you! :)
