This is what my partner was given while his Elantra is in the shop.
It’s got around 13k miles. Lots of switch blanks. CVT. To me, it’s just ok. It kinda makes me feel claustrophobic.
He, on the other hand, completely hates it. The hand brake jabs into his leg, he hates the CVT, and says it feels cheap.
BTW, the small bit of damage to his car is over $4k. Apparently the impact bent a bumper support and damaged the floor under the spare tire well.
I still haven’t heard from my insurance yet on my car. It’s making me nervous. I really would rather it be totaled. I don’t need it anymore and it would free up a not unsubstantial amount of money for me each month. Think good thoughts for me, Oppo.

Base model Imprezas are very car. Not really bad nor really good either. They do their job well.

I’m not going to replace my car, at least not right away. E ven if I do, it’ll be something super cheap (under $2k), or an old pickup, or an old Jeep. Or some combination of all 3, ideally.

Yeah, it reminds me of my now-wrecked rental-spec Optima. It was ok, but didn’t do anything well . The default setting for ‘car’, IMHO.

I mean the one thing it has going for it is AWD.

Nah, I already had a ‘91 Sable back in the day. True story, it was the first CD player I ever owned. It had both the CD and cassette deck , because I was A MOTHERFUCKIN’ PLAYER.

I mean, my dad had a ‘94 Taurus when I was a kid, and I wouldn’t wish that autocannibalistic transmission on anyone

I genuinely want a SHO, and I would probably buy a super clean regular Taurus for like $500, but I have problems and like cars that I shouldn’t, even when I know they’re objectively terr ible

I find subarus in general to be very “meh”. They try to design it to be both inoffensive but with irritatingly-complex light arrays. Then they attach tinny-sounding doors, not much noise insulation, a good AWD system, and an eengine that few non-dealer or specialty techs want to mess with.
I genuinely do not understand the appeal, except for maybe the mountainous regions and the Northeast.

Why? It’s worse in every way compared to an Impreza, unless you’re aiming for a smaller vehicle.

Sorry, you’re right. I got
Legacy and Impreza mixed up.
