I just got my first new pair of athletic shoes in about 3 years...New Balance Hanzo S. They’re pretty serious running shoes and I was getting tired of doing everything my Vibram Fivefingers (you know, the “toe shoes”) for their lack of versatility and likelihood to attract weird looks. I had them for over 5 years and they were just starting to lose traction (5-10 miles/week).
Not like these are stealthy...but dat ninja!
Thanks to Joe’s New Balance Outlet...$65 shipped, normally $100-$130. Great company, I keep coming back to them.
I wonder how long before these soft little nubs start to break off...

I burn through a pair of running shoes every 8-10 months. I weigh usually around 200-205 and mash the cushioning right out of them on a high program on the elliptical.

I’m the same weight, but use a “delicate” midfoot strike which prolongs the life of the cushioning (and your knees) when running. Of course, the Fivefingers had zero cushioning to wear out...

So now can we call you a Hanzo main?
No, I really have no idea what that means.

I bought some New Balances for my mom for $35 off of Joe’s. Some Fresh Foams or 990's in a good color would be a solid buy for myself from there.

When those nubs start to fall off, just take solace in the fact that those nubs aren’t connected to $500 driving shoes.

Isn’t a good lifespan for running shoes 6-8 months anyway?

For a heelstriker in a soft shoe who does 10-15 miles/week, yes. For a midfoot or forefoot striker in a hard shoe, easily a couple years.
Wow, I say “heelstriker” like it’s a racial slur...

How did I already know what this was from the thumbnail?
Oh, yeah, I saw it in the theatre...

Heelstriker may be charitable compared to elliptical masher.
