Its rare I’ll venture away from Jalopnik into the gizmodoverse. The amount of clickbait articles and cross posting is ridiculous. God forbid you point out why an article about Trump tweeting about something not about technology is on a technology blog the swarms of shit spewing comments flow in. (frankly if I wanted political news I’d go to a political website. I go/went to Gizmodo for tech blog news.)

Same here. When Splinter was launched, I thought that GMG had finally recognized the need for a dedicated politics blog that wasn’t a sub-blog like The Slot.

Thats great for him, the news outlets and everyone latching on to him like a leach to regurgitate into some half assed news article to get those precious clicks.

But I dont care. I’m not coming to a tech blog to see articles such as “Piers Morgan Can’t Stop Tweeting This Picture of Him Eating Donald Trump’s Ass”. Hell even the Tesla and Elon Musk bashing circle jerk is closer linked to a tech blog than a tweet is.

The problem is that they’re diluting their audiences. It used to be a way to get a quick click and some ad revenue, but now that everyone is in on it, we’re all getting bored. I don’t even care what he said/did/tweeted unless it is something worth talking about. Most recent was NK, the rest has been ignorable. The fuss over child separation is a nothingburger because it’s the exact same policy that has been in place for decades, just blown up because they hate him and need a story to get all the SJWs behind.

They could cut all of Splinter, the Root and Jezebel, half of Deadspin, probably most of Lifehacker, some each of Kotaku, Takeout, AV Club, Onion, Clickhole, and probably 35% of Jalopnik and it would probably improve things dramatically.

I sometimes scan the headlines at the top of the page, of all the giz pages. It seems like half of The Root consists of “White people are [insert something negative]” headlines . They could easily dump that part and come out ahead.

I also found it hilarious that he spent “so much” with them. I’ve looked at my spending over the years and it’s insane, but I also don’t shop anywhere else, and I buy a lot of tools on Amazon.
