Having just invested in a new short block for Forest has turned this into my forever car. The body has 150k on it and rust has yet to really take a hold. I need to get 200k more at least. My wife says that if anything major happens we’re done with it.
What should I be looking at replacing/upgrading and what preventative maintenance should I be looking at? Going to do fluids on the trans and diff.

What do you want to do with it?
Our S G is my wife’s forever car, we bought it new in 08 right before the SH came out. We’ve had it 10 years now and it just turned over 100K km (60K miles), she just commented the other day that she’s warmed up to it now..
Its got RA flaps, Yakima roofrack, and some Hellas up front, snorkus delete, and STI catback- otherwise stock. I like it because it drives nice, sounds good, and goes anywhere. I would like to add an RSB a n d s o m e k i n g s p r i n g s but I don’t want to upset either the ride or my wife.
Things I’m watching; m o n i t o r coolant a n d o i l levels (hg) , rust on the front lower control arm ;

I think it’s going to drive forever,

I just want to drive it for 200k miles which at my current rate of driving will be ~7 years. I don’t want to modify it except for maybe audio wise. In 7 years my son will be about old enough to get his license so maybe we can pass it down to him then.

Keep an eye on the oil and coolant levels, the headgaskets are the weak point on these ej25 but these years usually have external leaks so they drip instead of burning coolant i n t e r n a l l y and then overheating.
I mark with a sharpie on the coolant bottle cold- I can tell easy if the level has changed. Ours drips a bit of oil onto the tray cover.. not enough to even add during an 8k oil change interval, but if your climbing or driving hard you get a whiff of the oil burning off the header when you park.
