I’ve been borrowing my !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! while  Forest is being brought back from the grave. Forest spun a bearing and a new short block is being installed right now.

Anyways I’ve been using my mom’s car to get to work, bring the kid’s places, but mostly I’ve been using it to murder insects cruelly and efficiently.

This has left me with a lot of bug guts baked onto the white paint on the Sebring’s front bumper cover and hood.

My mom’s kinda a neat freak and I’d like to return the car as clean as possible. How do you guys go about cleaning off bug guts?

take to a coin op blast off what you can. It will blast off the main bits/chunks and will also soak the remaining splatter.

Use turtle wax/mothers/meguiars bug and tar remover to get the rest of the stuff off.

Super stubborn stuff can be removed with petrol on a rag rinse with water after.

I paid some apathetic high schoolers to scrub off the big chunks.

A little WD40 on a rag can also remove stuff like that. Works well on road tar too.

Don’t clean them off.  Leave them so it sends a message to all the remaining living bugs...

Is the hip saying “give it a skip” now? I’m still on “miss me with that”

“miss me with that”

I’ve never heard this.  Also, I’m 100% the wrong person to ask what’s hip.

It's the oldest trick in the book. Along with wd40.

My wife’s pearl white Impreza was parked under a tree during a torrential late spring rainstorm where all kinds of tree crap like those helicopter thingies rained down upon it. I hosed these physical things off the car, but they had already left all these brown residue spots all over the car. I hand washed it with the cheap Meguiar’s D eep Crystal car wash soap, and this microfiber not-actually-a -mitt wash sponge I got at Walmart.

Most of the residue came off with the blue brush-y side but some of the more difficult spots required using the yellow microfiber side. Many folks preach using the two bucket method but I had just moved and only had one bucket handy, so I made sure to hose off the dirty sponge each time before putting it in the clean soapy water.

I dried it with a chamois, specifically the Absorber XL, also a lovely Walmart item, and then once it fully dried, gave it a quick touch-up shine with quick detailer spray (I’m using the Turtle Wax one at the moment since it was the cheapest the last time I went to buy some) and a microfiber towel.

And I made sure if she knows it's going to rain and she's parking outside, that she doesn't park in that nice shady spot she likes so much.

I’ve had a couple white cars in a row now, I always keep a bug sponge and some bug & tar remover spray in the trunk (currently Turtle Wax, but there’s various brands). Just use that and a lot of elbow grease, if you do it every few days, it isn’t that bad of a job, its when they’ve been on there a good while that you really need to use some pressure.

Also, a good coating of wax on the car keeps them from sticking as easily, so a higher percentage will wash off with the hose.
