I figured those kinds of wrecks were considered untouchable since it’s a de facto burial at sea. There’s probably a better term than that but I can’t think of it at the moment.

Ships and aircraft should have “war grave” status. But I would imagine that different countries have different laws about handling them. The UK has the Protection of Military Remains Act . Not sure how the Dutch handle it.

i think you are correct.. if nothing else they will find out who exactly is down there
(tho recently the dutch have been getting pretty worked up about ww2 wreckage being looted for the steel salvage so who knows how that will affect things... i think in this case everything is pretty much up the americans tho)
