Predictable, bland storyline. Robotic characters with stereotypical, bland dialogue. Bad CGI. If not for the dinosaurs there’d be nothing here to save it. It was a massive disappointment for me.

I liked it when I saw it in the theaters but on rewatch I found it dull. They really should have stopped after the first.

Jurassic Park was great. Different from the book in substantial plot areas, but m ostly faithful and well done. Jurassic Park 2 was not. So I decided to not waste my time with the franchise further.

I saw the movie version of JP, then read the book. I’m glad I did it that way, because I could enjoy the movie on its own merits without saying, “That wasn’t in the book.” The book was also great. This latest movie was fine. Bryce Dallas Howard is easy on the eyes, but it’s just the same old story of trying to capitalize on the dinosaurs and unbridled greed coming to grief. The scene where the hero is rescued at the last second by a bigger dinosaur is either, 1) a worth homage to the original or, 2) a tired cliché. There was a twist/reveal that was thrown in at the end in an effort to add something interesting, but it was ultimately not that big a deal. Jeff Goldblum had a bit part, but his words were the most insightful part of the whole film.

Wait, let me guess - the dinos go crazy AGAIN?!
I’m shocked!
Oceans 8 is meh too.

I literally just came back home after watching it. Completely agreed. Tries to take it too seriously and make it a dark movie . At least JW1 didn’t bother with much plot and it was Dinos run amok in a park again killing everything, oh and here are some kids that you’ re supposed to care about and was a fun ride.
Nothing will beat JP1 and I love JP2 Lost World as well- Till the minute the TR ex bursts out of the ship on the San Diego dock. I turn it off after that.

...did anybody honestly expect anything else from what is the fifth entry in the franchise ? Are fifth entries in any franchises EVER good?

It was a fantastic original idea, the book was, and they translated most of it to the screen. The moment when Sam Neil, et. al. first see the dinosaurs is a huge moment. But it’s the kind of idea that is hard to build a franchise on, because the novelty wears off fast. When I was a kid, I wanted a sequel to every movie I liked. As an adult, I recognize that some should just stop at one.

Star Wars? Nope.
Star Trek? Nope.
Harry Potter? Nope.
And so on...

Fast Five might be the best Fast and the Furious movie.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is pretty good.
Even though it’s not chronological, Empire Strikes Back is the best Star Wars film.

Ocean’s 8 was a letdown because it lacked the people behind the camera who made the first one so great. It’s a shame because I loved everyone involved in front of the camera.

If The Lost World didn’t have that bullshit in San Diego, it’d be the best sequel by far. Hell, I think it’s the best sequel as it stands because JW1 is so bland.

I thought the exact opposite. It was great. Out of all of the movies in the franchise, I’d rank it as number 2.
*Spoilers...
How was the little girl cloned from the old man’s daughter predictable?
I’m looking forward to what direction they take the next one.

What the fuck was the point of the clone “granddaughter?” I saw none.
I’m also tired of the nostalgic “moments,” Aka complete rip off moments taken from the original classic. As soon as the clone tried to close the dumbwaiter I let out an audible, “Are you shitting me!”
And there wasn't enough of the T-Rex.

It’s an idea the producers have had since before JPIII that they just shoehorned in because I guess they’re just going all in now with no regrets.
