Oh wait, they’re cats!
The problem: My wife bought a hanging “cat hammock” thinking we could hang it from the plant hook in the ceiling by a window.
Small problem, it’s not long enough for any of the cats to actually get into. The simple solution would’ve been to hang it from a chain.
If you find yourself in this situation I highly advise just buying a length of chain.
Since I have a bunch of random hardware I went a different route. I bought three dowel rods and used some eye bolts, a carabiner hook, and some light weight chain that I already had.
With all that I built this monstrosity.
Now, we wait to see if anyone even looks at it. I’m sure if nothing else they’ll enjoy swatting the shiny chain.

Elegant solution. Cats being cats, though, there is an inverse relationship to the amount of time you spend making them something to how much they will actually use it. You might have been better off leaving a few cardboard boxes around the house.

Surprisingly, only one of our cats is a cardboard box fan. They all love sitting on an ottoman that sometimes gets moved in front of that window when we clean.

sprinkle some catnip on the beds, and they will find them.

Our cats also really like the ottoman. It is one of their thrones.

We have two ottomans; both currently have a cat on them. The third cat is in another room.
The stand I made for them remains empty.
