Oh. My. God. Becky.
Mustang’s been sitting for a month now. It runs, but that !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! just makes it too frustrating to drive. Good thing it spit out some codes for me to pursue.
But as thorough as my Service Manual (SM) and Electrical and Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual (EVTM) are, I was still missing a third volume: this “Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis” (PC/ED) book. Well, I finally found one, and it is an absolute unit . I’m in awe.
Not sure how many pages it is (the chapters aren’t numbered together), but the whole thing stands about 5-1/2" thick when closed. It’s the equivalent of about 6 Chiltons!
I was hoping that there was a digital version available. The SM and EVTM on my tablet have come in very handy, and I’m really digging the searchable text on those documents.
Going through this PC/ED book, however, is going to take some time. I sure hope all the pages are there. It looks pretty intact, though. No grease stains, and hardly any dog-ears to speak of. I can’t wait to see where this thing leads me!

The dark ages, when you had to flip through gigantic tomes such as these without such a feature as Control-F.

Wish I knew how many pages it was! According to some other eBay auctions selling the full set, it
looks to be about 3 times as thick as
the physical version of the (2000+ page)
Service Manual. Holy smokes.

I sure hope so. There’s one more volume, like this one, labelled On Board Diagnostics II . I’m hoping that means that it’s for OBDII systems, and that it’s not just “the rest” of this book, like a “On Board Diagnsotics, VOLUME II”.
I don’t need a OBDII book, as only the V6 models had that back in 1995. My car (’95 GT) has an OBDII socket, but it doesn’t do anything. Gotta use the EEC-IV socket
under the hood to pull codes.
