It needs all the monies. Forgot to take a pic but I got to see the broken cam shaft today and it was ugly. The great news is more problems now t he side door will not open at all (yes the same side door that completely fell off a year ago) . They are adding it to the list but for now my tools are hostage. Fun times

This is why the Chevy Express and Ford Econoline are better at this van thing.

I was actually supposed to get a Chevy Express a while back but since they had put it so much work into the Ram it seemed like keeping the ProMaster would be no big deal ended up backfiring big-time. The only reason I don’t mind is cuz it’s great to work out of because it’s fully loaded with Adrian Steel Cabinetry and they’re very helpful also I don’t pay these repair bills. The Chevy my company is providing have two shity thin metal shelves and that’s it so it will be a huge bummer as far as actually working from it. Oh yeah and the ProMaster has a full insulated partition between the cab and the storage area whereas the Chevys are just a perforated piece of metal so you hear everything from the back and struggle to keep it cool/warm. Kinda damned if I do damned if I dont..

I stopped by right at the end of their day I have nothing in there I need this moment but they’re going to call me tomorrow when they get it open one way or another I have the full partition in the front and Adrian Steel blocking the ability to get in from the rear so it’s truly a large area that is completely inaccessible. Not sure what the fix will be.

That is true, if I was going to choose a work vehicle I’d get a long bed truck with a cap and a trailer or something. Not a huge fan of any of the vans on the market now, especially the Proasster and the Transit. Sprinter vans also rust out like nobodies business.

Trucks are not an option for me. My equipment is large and heavy so gett ing it over the side of a truck is not possible and one or two of my i tems would totally block off access at the tailgate forcing me to constantly take them on and off the truck to get to other smaller items or block off the big stuff by pushing it to the back and have to pull out everything to get to the big stuff . Even with the best cap you still get way less than half the storage and the items are less than half as accessible. Vans are wh ere its at. Plus during bad weather I can almost stand inside the promaster and work inside of it. I honestly dont see why so many people work out of trucks. They are kinda a pain in the ass. Now once you toss a trailer into the deal you’ve got the best of both worlds but its not an option for me and it has major drawbacks too when it comes to dealing with getting in and out of tight spaces and dealing with traffic 2 things I deal with constantly.

Were it my stepfather, he’d probably break the door and say “I don’t care, it’s my tools, you’re paying for the van”

butcher the van open

drag it outside

set it alight

claim insurance

then buy/lease a new van*

*if van not yours, get the dealer to inflate the quote so your boss says “fuck it, new van for you”

Pretty sure a couple techs have put kids through college servicing this van. Dealerships know how to play the fleet companies. It’s pretty sad. A dealership is the last place I would ever bring my own car they are 100% crooks.

Something like this is just about the perfect work vehicle to me:

Kinja'd!!!

Space for everything, and everyone. City, no problem.
