Hey, nerdlingers, indulge my curiosity - what is Mrs. Columbo’s car? Doesn’t seem to be an H-body I’m aware of, nor a Concord sport coupe, and rear window is too angular for Pinto/Bobcat. I think.

That’s what I had thought, except that the back corner of the rear quarter window looks like it has more of a point.

I see your point; maybe it’s just an illusion of the camera? I can’t really see it being anything else.

That’s kind of where I am. I asked mostly because tiny little differences when I’ve done 1920s and 30s car IDs have ended up making all the difference, and on the off chance somebody knew of something that looked almost exactly like a Bobcat but wasn’t...

That’s almost correct. IMCDB has a page for that car.

https://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_99285-Ford-Falcon-1968.html

I’m guessing the note that it’s a ‘76 was someone’s error left unchecked.

On the site you link, it mentions that everybody involved with Real Columbo disavowed the Mrs. Columbo series as being “some other Columbo”, but that doesn’t change the fact that on the short-lived Mrs. Columbo, Kate Mulgrew’s character was parking next to a Peugeot convertible with a damaged right fender ...

Anyway, for the purposes of this question, the Mrs. Columbo in the Mrs. Columbo series was *not* driving the car used in Columbo Goes to College.

That is far deeper into Columbo than I ever imagined myself going, so I will defer to your knowledge, and enjoy the show on the rare occasion that I run ac ross it.

It’s more than I planned. I’ve been watching on DVD, and seasons 3 and 4 of regular Columbo have a bonus episode of Mrs. Columbo each. Since I was seeing the car in the opening and (unsurprisingly) IMCDB did n’t seem to have a Mrs. Columbo category, it fell to me to ask here.

I’d forgotten about there being “my wife’s car” in Columbo Goes to College, and that episode was after the original series was dropped and picked back up again on another network , so for them to have bothered to make the car the same as on the Mrs. Columbo series would have been mind-boggling levels of continuity-checking. It looked from your comment like it was, so I checked... and it wasn’t. Oh well.
