And for only about 100 bucks. The only thing misssing in my bike collect now is a BMX bike, and this is 7 year old me’s dream bike. I remember a friend had a Dyno and I was sooo jealous, I did end up with a decent Trek BMX bike after many a Walmart bike.  Even has Skyway wheels! Very cool.

Ooh, yes. I always wanted a Dyno...I ended up with a Powerlite P38, which was also pretty sweet.

But  which generation is it? I read the first gen is the pure bike, and the new one is far too techy and dispassionate.

id say a bmx is probably rear mid, road racers front mid.. mtbs somewhere in between

The skyway wheels are awesome! I got a blue Dyno NSX in 1994. It was my first real bike. It got stolen and recovered a few days later. That was super lucky. I rode it to school almost every day, including the winter. I still have this bike in my mom’s garage. I want to bring it to CA but can’t figure out an easy way to get it here.

My Trek Vert 2 was my first good bike. Had it for about 10 years when it was stolen from my highschool bike rack. I saw a kid riding it a few days later, spray painted matte black of coarse. I picked a fight with him and tried to get it back but a teacher broke it up, let him leave on “his bike” and gave me detention. And they wonder why I didn’t like school

Luckily, We had the paperwork with the serial number. Chased them down and called the cops. Then proved it was my bike with the serial number. The cops actually arrested the 3 teenagers. All three were on stolen bikes and all three where using fake ID’s to buy booze at my local gas station.

Bummer yours ended the other way. Early lesson that life can be a bitch, I guess.

The worst part was seeing it spray painted. It had a cool playing card theme, and the paint was black had losts of red,green, and gold metal flake in it.This one isn’t mine but same bike. Also by the time it was stolen lost of parts had been broken and upgraded so it really was My bike.

Bummer to hear. It’s like losing a part of you, especially when you make the bike your own. That theme is rad as hell. Now I’m really thinking about packing my Dyno and shipping it the next time I visit family.

Shouldn’t be too bad if you can dismantle it. Take off the bars, wheels, seat and pedals and it’ll package up pretty small.

I had a 1986 dyno comp, in baby blue with ACS 48 spoke wheels and an odyssey giro thingy for the cables. I sold it and bought a mountain bike. That bike is probably near $500-1000 today. Like the one in the photo.
