Was looking up Spyderco's and am wondering if there's anything British racing green *doesn't* look amazing on?

Spyderco’s are nice if you can get used to the thumb hole. I’ve got a few Para’s, Tenacious and my favorite is a Firefly that I carry pretty much all the time.

I’m a knife aficionado, and Spyderco had been my EDC knife since 1995. They are very well-made, excellent customer support, I highly recommend...

I’ve had one of these for... a couple decades...

Spyderco makes good knives that are particularly good at cutting cordage. They hold an edge well and operate smoothly, they got their start with climbers and such.

My EDC is a Spyderco Sage 5. I love it. Spyderco makes tons of different knives so you’re likely to find something you like. However they are pricey and they’ve just raised their prices again, so there is some sticker shock. But they are very well made and most of them are worth every penny, in my opinion.

British racing green scales on Spydercos indicate that the blade steel is ZDP-189, which is a very hard steel with excellent edge retention and corrosion resistance. However, this edge retention comes at a cost, namely, the edge is more likely to chip rather than roll when it hits something hard, and it is very difficult to sharpen. However you probably won’t have to sharpen it for a long time (depending on how you use knives).

I carried a Spyderco in Boy Scouts and the Army, but later switched to a Gerber Multitool and a CRKT M-16 knife. That M-16 knife has a faster deploy system and an all metal handle.

Spydercos are great knives, I collected them for a while before moving on to other hobbies. Currently carrying an Adventura.

They have some of the best “Small knife” designs out there. Most companies make a “small knife” by taking a larger design and shrinking it, but that never quite fits in your hand and is often awkward to use or open or close. Spydercos are all made to fit your hand, big or small. I always reccomend the Cricket for people getting started in Spydercos, it’s a small, friendly, and unique design that is amazingly useful as an EDC, though it’s a bit light for heavy duty work.

I got started with an older Ladybug, which is really only intended for keychain use, but the sheer usability and quality of the little knife really wowed me.

I have carried a Delica for about 5 years now and couldn’t ask for a better knife. The blade is extremely durable and holds an edge very well. Well worth the money.

My favorite knife I’ve ever owned was a Spyderco Yojimbo II. Very solid knife with a good blade for a good price. Unfortunately it fell off my pocket in a parking lot late at night while I was trying to remedy my dead truck.

I’ve had a Endura Wave for about a decade now. Extremely durable, relatively cheap knife with a good blade. If it’s for defense the wave feature works great and is compliant with most places knife laws. You can’t really go wrong with Spyderco.

The Spyderco Manix 2 is the best folding pocket knife ever made. It’s the perfect size, it uses a ball bearing lock that you can hold open to swing the knife open or closed, and it’s available in a huge range of colors, metals, and handle materials. I’ve currently got one in 154CM, partially serrated, with plain old black G10 scales but I’m thinking about dropping a few bucks on one with a more exotic blade and scale combo.

The Para 2 is also excellent, I just prefer the blade shape and lock of the Manix 2. It’s mostly about the lock, I kinda hate liner locks and the ball bearing lock on the Manix 2  is the bees knees.

Just added a Manix 2 to my Amazon shopping cart. Thanks for the recommendation.

I carry a Spyderco Native 5 , and love it. I’ve owned several versions of the Native , but have lost them throughout the years. I also own an Endura 4 (another multiple purchase, since I’ve lost one a few times, re-found it, re-lost it, etc so I bought another ), a couple of others, and when I’m doing army stuff I carry a Paramilitary 2 which I’m absolutely in love with, but is just a hair bigger than I prefer for civilian EDC.

Spyderco makes great, great knives and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

Too spendy for a pocket knife, imo. Take a look at the OKC Rat II. Cheap, nice blade, holds and edge, nice thum bstud for easy opening.

I used to carry a Spyderco Rescue w hen I worked on a boat. It was very nice and very sharp and it was certainly not worth the $90 it cost.

Nice. They also make a Manix 2 XL if you have particularly large hands, I found it too large to open and close comfortably with one hand. The blade on the XL  is also too long to concealed carry in RI.

If it's British racing green you need to watch what you're eating.

I’ve carried a Spyderco Sage carbon fiber for like...8-9 years? It’s FANTASTIC and has outlasted a few custom knives in my rotation. I’m a bit of a knife geek (customs, semi-customs, productions, made a few of my own...etc) The carbon has a grippy feel to it, like a raw weave and not smooth. Best handle material I’ve ever dealt with. Plus their wire clips are possibly the best clips on the market. Blade steel on mine is s30, which is fairly common in higher end knives, holds a good edge, pretty strong.
