Started tearing things apart again so I can get this car on the road:
I’m really having a hard time getting the motivation to do this this time. Between working on it for months only to find a bad trans and all the rain we’ve had the past week, I’m just burnt out on it. I know I need to get it fixed, but I really don’t know how to get the energy to do it.
I went out last night and just stared at both cars for a while before I even pulled out the tools. I got some stuff swapped from the donor, but in the 3 hrs I worked on it, I should have had the trans out of mine. I think I’m finally losing my drive.

Losing interest in a car sucks.
But, look at how much you’ve accomplished, even if you have to “start over”. You know the components going in are good, so you should be in the clear when this is all wrapped up. It seems as though there is a light in the end of the tunnel, it’s just far away at this point.

You cut that out right now! This beast needs to be on the road!
This is one of those cars that’ll make car people *and* people who don’t give a shit about cars break their necks and left thinking “WTF?”! The world needs this!

The only thing that’s keeping me going is the vision of the finished project.

That sucks but at least it’s awhile before the cold weather sets in. Gives you a chance to find your motivation.

I’m thinking the sawzall and grinder/cutoff wheels will make tearing the donor apart a lot easier.
The thought of the finished product is the only thing keeping me somewhat motivated right now.

Being in town I kinda have to make it quick, otherwise I’ll have the village on me about an unregistered vehicle in the driveway (donor car).

It’s too dangerous to work unmotivated! Take this!

Start working on it and take some adderall*? You won’t stop until the adderall wears off at least.
*I am not a doctor nor have I ever taken adderall, results may vary

What Stapleface and Calzonegolem said. Cool car, and can’t wait to see it back on the road!
Maybe just a lull in your motivation due to the frustration? Perhaps a day off with this shit weather will help, and refresh you.
You’ve been doing a lot, maybe grind this one out and take a break?
Good luck!

That’s definitely a plus to the donor vehicle. Who cares what else gets broken/destroyed - as long as the parts you need come out in one piece. :)

It’s been on stands in the driveway for over a week untouched until last night. Between other things and weather, I haven’t been able to get cracking on it.
Hopefully weather turns out decent this weekend and I can get into it again.

Funny story:
I hurt my back years ago at my old job. Dr told me I’d have to take a week off work, I told him that would work as long as he paid my wage for the week. He prescribed percoc et to manage the pain so I could continue working. I managed to work 12hr days and finish my old Acclaim drivetrain swap that week.
Something about those made me ready to do whatever had to be done!
