...so here is a history of the 126p’s design changes (...that I may or may not have posted here before, but can’t remember) in the form of pixel art! :D

And here is a picture of the factory tool kit that came with every FIAT 126!

And here is a picture showing the mechanicals of an early 126p ST model! The gas tanks were mounted to one side of the car as the interior heat piping from the air-cooled engine occupied the same space on the opposite side! Fuel capacity? 20.5L or about 5.5 US gallons - as much as a larger sized jerry can!

Did you know that the 126p could be ordered with swanky aftermarket interior? These are very sought after today and rare - made by a company called Inter Groclin - and were a slick design with a one-piece backrest with integrated headrest, unlike the 126's usual seats with removable headrests! Inter Groclin also had interior options on the FSO Polonez Caro as well!

Excluding shipping, you can get a decent one for like...$1500-2000 CAD and a really good one for $2500-3000 CAD, so getting a half dozen wouldn’t be too hard! :D

Can we do an Oppo group buy? :P There’s a shop that is going to find and sort out the shipping for mine when the time comes...if somebody got one at the same time and I split the cost of a container, cheaper shipping! Although you’d have to come to Halifax to get it :P

We should make a game of it. Oppo orders a dozen, we all meet in Halifax. Whoever makes it the farthest in the shortest amount of time without breaking down wins.

Bizzare story. I was over there wrenching on a dragbike out of Germany. It was the first drag race in Hungary-on back to back weekends. We camped at track along with most of the other racers. Midweek, all the racers loaded their cars+ bikes and went to Gyor. We had an un-scheduled show+ burn out display. As I was watching, a (very hot) 20 something girl hears me talking english and comes over to me. “ You from America? What part?”

I told her near New York. “ Do you have a Trabant?” ( I had one goal on this trip-to drive a Trabant.)

“No I have that red car over there-why?”

“I wanted to drive a Trabant”

“Well you can drive my car”

Umm- OK! I jump -and just barely fit. (I’m 6ft) I have another pic of me with arms out BOTH windows. I start it + put my foot to the floor counted to five....waiting to hear those 2 cylinders starting to work and SNAPPED the clutch out as fast as I can-and it responds kinda like if you did that on a lawn mower snap your head back and then not much else. I keep my foot planted screaming the snot out of it and speed shifter as hard as I could to 2nd-slammed into 3rd “Oh- you shift SOOO fast!” I have idea no clue where I’m going - its rush hour in a busy city-and I’m treating a strangers car— thats sitting shotgun— like a rental car! Took a five minute ride and I don’t think I lifted once. I feel bad looking back now—bit it WAS pretty funny!

Not to drive. I got a ride in a “rally” version.(It had a rollcage and some extra gaskets taped to the rear deck.

  We were at a test track Daytona sized with big banked turns. The driver tried to impress me by throwing it up on the banking...aaannndd down it came. And tried again with the same results. It didn’t have enough power to keep up the speed!
