You even park the forklift like a BMW driver.

ive never seen a forklift with more than 50% of its paint left on its ass.... forklift drivers cant drive (and that despite getting your license takes almost a whole day)

I don’t know why everyone doesn’t park in these blue spaces, they’re almost always open and always closer to the door. Plus they’re usually larger so no one else can park next to me. It’s so great.

I drove a 60's era 40-ton forklift across Albuquerque more than once. Wouldn’t recommend; powered by a GM small block, but the cooling system was not up to snuff for road-speed driving for more than a mile or so at a time before overheating and having to stop and let it cool. It also had almost a full turn of play in the (rear) steering, which kept things interesting, as did the very old and non-synchronized four speed gear box. The giant gap in ratios between the first two crawling at (big) warehouse speeds and the top two road-speed gears made double clutching it fast enough to shift from 2-3 before you lost too much speed to maintain 3rd a challenge.
I did almost stab the (very long) forks through the back doors of a suburban by not fully appreciating how long they were at the first red light I pulled up to. The boss/insurance company wouldn’t have appreciated that, but it probably would’ve made for a good picture. I feel confident in saying this wouldn’t have been OSHA approved. Despite barely fitting with in a lane, plenty of folks drove next to me at speed on multiple lane city streets. They would not have done so had the realized how “general” the steering was at speed.

We sold an old Ford branded fork with a gas four cylinder. It had black California plates (60s era). It had all-required lighting including turn signals. Road. Legal. What?!?! Got about $2000 in barely running condition after being unused, sitting outside for over 20 years. I’ll look for a picture of it.

Back in the day, I drove a forklift at a chemical plant. Six months in, we got a new one to add to the fleet and it was mostly mine because I never ran into anything . Then the foreman hired his nephew. That guy used my forklift to hit a few things before he backed it through a wall. He didn’t get fired or lose his driving privileges because, you know, foreman’s nephew. It wasn’t until he knocked down a full rack of bagged chemicals (8 pallets worth) that they finally got rid of him. By then, my poor new forklift looked like hell.
