Searching craigslist, not wanting to do billable work I found the exact same truck that I learned to drive in at the ripe old age of 15.

Technically I drove a tractor and lawn mower at earlier ages but this is the first vehicle I ever drove on a public road.

$2900 is a low price to pay for some nostalgia.

Yeah, I agree. NP all day, especially since it’s a nice old truck. I may be biased, but old trucks are the best first cars.

You know all those what-if posts where former owners reminisce about their first rides, and how they wish they never sold it, and if only the opportunity came up to buy it back they’d do it in a heartbeat?

This is that situation, IRL.

Kinja'd!!!

You might only have one shot. It’d make a sweet project. And setting nostalgia aside for a moment, it’s a running, driving 4x4 truck with a V8 and manual for $2900 - seems like a no-brainer. DOOO ITTT

As others have said, if you’ve got the space and the want now would be a good time to pick it up. I know a lot of people who have spent a lot of cash chasing nostalgia.

I’m going to have to pass. It hurts but I don’t need another car in my driveway.

Does that include phone book booster seats?

I have no feeling for this truck other than it is extremely rare and this particular running example is a pretty good value. I’m saving for a Datsun 240z restoration.

I’m not nostalgic over this truck so it was more of a wow, I haven’t seen one of those in a long time kind of things.

Buy it; even if you sell it on BaT a week later, you’ll make a profit.

By exact same, you mean it’s got the same VIN?

Haha that makes things less complicated. Still a cool truck for the price.

No, just exact same year and model. Ours was red. I called it big red. Ours did not have an 8-track player either. These trucks are extremely rare, very few 4x4 models were built.

Yes. This ford though you need strong legs and arms to drive it as nothing was powered. No power steering, no power brakes, even the clutch was not powered by anything but a huge spring.

It’s very cool, not to many 3/4 tons with 8' beds and 4x4 were made. It makes modern trucks weep in their shoes.

Cultural differences right? In the West we drive big rusty hulks of Fords and Chevys, in Europe you drive a little Fiat or Peugeot.

pretty much... first cars tend to be tiny here

(or a clapped out golf/3 series if you’re one of the brozems:p)
