I have a favor to ask of you, collectively.

My brother has been researching Challengers and finally found one that checks his boxes and is at a good price. The problem is that he is outside Boston, almost 4 hours from the location he has been in contact with for the vehicle. He plans on going down on Wednesday to see, test drive, and likely purchase the vehicle. Carfax checks out and all communications have not presented any red flags. I, unfortunately, cannot join him on the trip to confirm prior to purchase.

Kinja'd!!!

That’s why I am requesting some assistance in either form below:

1) Anyone in the area know or have experience with !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ?

2) Any tips for making an out of state purchase?

3) Any things to look for specifically on a Challenger?

4) Anyone interested in lending my brother a hand in looking over the car?

I do not expect anyone to have time during the week for request number 4even before considering the request is for a stranger but at the very least if you have had any experience with that specific dealer or group, please chime in.

Thank you. Stay awesome.

2) plan on spending a crazy amount of time fucking around with forms in addition to your travel time. If you haven’t bought a car in awhile it’s easy to forget how long it takes.

Has he driven one? If not, tell him National and Enterprise rent them. Get one for a weekend and drive it around before making the purchase.

The biggest difference between the SXT and the SXT Plus is the larger touch screen for the infotainment system and the backup camera. The camera is absolutely worth the cost. The Challenger is a big boat and it’s impossible to tell where the back end is when reversing.

That’s the thing I would tell him. Get the camera.

One more thing - the sides of this car must be made from aluminum foil. Every one I’ve seen has a door ding on the body crease which looks like it would be terribly difficult to get out. The only one that didn’t was my first rental and it only had 1,100 miles on it.

I don’t believe he has driven one though I’ve told him to. Being a boat isn’t a concern as we learned on suburbans and trucks. However the camera is a must for sure. He is set on this car... That has been made clear. It’s been a long time coming for him so everything short of having it has been planned out. The opportunity just showed up before he could drive one nearby and he’s afraid if missing it.

He already has insurance filling him in on requirements and the dealer prepping things. Hopefully can get the majority done before showing up to confirm the vehicle is as expected.

There’s always another car, especially Challengers. They made 51,000 of them just last year.
