Something else that’s been on my mind lately is how would it be to own a Panamera? I’m seeing some previous gen-Panameras for around 40-50k on Carmax and they are looking quite tempting. They have four doors and seat four adults so it would actually tick all of my boxes. And Porsche interiors are the bee’s knees to me.
So how reliable is the Porsche v6?

Any interest in used A7? Cheaper, and you know, certainly has some similarities to the Panaramamamamia

I know it’s weird but I feel less confident in the reliability of an Audi. And I don’t like how they share a lot of switches and interior materials with VWs. I’d rather just get a VW than an Audi with VW materials.

They’re both VAG. Reliability is gonna be an issue no matter what.

The first gen plug in version was nothing but a giant safety hazard. By the second or third year of normal model production issues with these became pretty apparent. Sadly the 4s is not the model to own and turbo variants had a litany of annoying issues as well. Off the top of my head the base model you appear to be reaching for are no worse than a same year 911 for reliability. Owning one of these has been on my mind for some time.
(Test post to see if the mods are still devaluing my contributions.)
Edit: Yes they are. GMAFB with this pending business.

IDK if it’s still true, but with the old Cayenne’s, the model to get was the Turbo. They tend to overbuild the turbo models.

I recall hearing that the way to go is avoid the air suspension, and stick with the Base model. I tend to think Zoidberg is probably onto something in going with the A7(especially if it means you could get a 1-2 year newer and lower mile car).

If I wasn’t about to board a flight this reply would be it’s own story. 2011 Pananera Turbo. Front-end replaced in first 25k miles. Then at 50k miles is when it all started to go downhill. Another frontend replacement, power steering pump. Not too bad. Until a PDK transmission replacement ($21k under extended warranty), was only two in the US. And finally a whole long block replacement due to Porsche recall ($43k Thanks Porsche). Not to mention basic maintenance is very over priced. Moral of the story, don’t buy a used Porsche without a extended warranty or deep pockets.

So general consensus is get a 911 and avoid any of these.

Yeah, I started looking at A7s a little while longer after replying to him. They don’t look too bad now that I think about it a while longer.

Thank you, I wasn’t grey until an offended party got doubly offended at me for insinuating a better offensive existed.

No, they really are excellent from the inside. Light on their feet. I think history will be kind to them in spite of coming about in the SUV-all-the-things age. Certainly more so than their German sedan competition

I recently got a CPO Panamera 4 as my daily driver / school bus. Excellent car overall. Feels solid and extremely well designed.
Great mix of of
handling and comfort with the air suspension. Moves with authority but really easy in every day traffic. The interior is well appointed
and
very spacious, tons of leg room front & back
.
The V6 is not a VW transplant but a Porsche design (as far as I understand, correct me if I’m wrong). I’m all for rowing my own gears as the much as the next guy, but the PDK is the tits. Sport Chrono option on mine, it probably helps.
Fairly low profile car too, doesn’t scream “look at me” like other high-end German rockets.
Go for it !

That sounds spectacular. I ended up with a 428i Gran Coupe instead but still wonder what if on the Panamera. Now you’re making me wonder again. Oh well. My next commuter will probably be a Panamera if I can swing it.

I’m not too smart though, as illustrated by my reply to a post that’s 6 months old, ahem, so don’t take my input too seriously ...
