Gas man is here to fit new pipes, apparently we’re getting proper pressure coming in (18-19mbar) the house at the meter, but somewhere there is a drop down to 8mbar at the combi boiler.

Anyway, here’s his motor.

2017 Ford Ranger 3.2TDCi Wildtrak. It’s an auto, but never mind.

EDIT:- corrected. I put ‘bar’ instead of ‘mbar’. My bad.

That’s an odd vehicle for a tradesman to use. Any normal person would use a van.

very very common to use a double cab ute, well here it is anyway.

Not here! Building sites are surrounded by vans. Pick ups are more expensive and anything you put in the back is liable to be rained or or stolen. Could put one of those lid things on but then you’ve created a van with very little space. Pick ups that I see are generally carrying air around...

have you driven one?

they go like shit off a shovel, you need to keep both hands on the steering wheel

autos in these sadly are becoming too common for my liking.

He used to have a Transit van but for a gas man he just needs something to hold the pipes.

I’ve not. Nor have I ever driven an automatic.

Australia seems to be becoming a land of autos with Oz not getting the full spec range of cars available in Europe.

our new Commodore (Insignia) is auto only

Audi A3 and bigger, auto only

BMW all auto (excl Z4 and M)

Mercedes all auto (excl X-class)

a lot of Renault are auto only

mind you, Mahindra and Tata are still mainly manual, only as Tata have no auto utes, and Mahindra’s XUV500 has not long ago started with auto

the chinese are 50/50 each way.

Peugeot/Citroen are growing in auto only.

Nissan too.

Hyundai/Kia can still get a quite a few manuals (i think)

? The gas issue?

Not sure if there was too many bends in the pipe to the combi boiler, or whether the pipe had been down sized or up sized from the old pipe when the combi boiler was put in.

Ye’, like the Skoda Superb, you get auto only in the 2.0TSi and I believe the 2.0TDi, but not the manual or auto 1.4TSi, or 1.6TDis.

You’ll get the manuals that are made closer to your region.

Sounds a lot like Mèxico

It seems like car makers put Australia into the “other markets” category

You have natural gas that comes to your home at 18 bar? Wow. It’s regulated down to less than 1 psig (maybe 7 in wc, or 0.017 bar) for safety.

Ye’, sorry. Should of said 19mbar.

British mains gas is 21+/-2mbar.

Ok. Better. I was wondering how there aren’t more gas explosions.

I guess when were talking we often shorten it to bar rather than say millibar.

That’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it. Lol.

No biggie. For dietary units here most people don’t realize the calories the talk about are actually kilocalories.
