Is car. Is bigly but also smol. Blinker sound is too quiet, “leatherette”steering wheel is PVC garbage. I’d prefer a hard plastic wheel.

A Kia Soul is probably all the car I would ever need, but I won’t ever get one because they just don’t do anything for me.

Also, switchblade key fobs are stupid. The button always get pressed while just sitting in the pocket anyways. Well, maybe not that one, apparently...

I like them - it’s on my possible list for a camping car. They do feel oddly large to drive but they really aren’t that big. I wish they would make a Crosstrekish plastic clad fake off-road version :)

It is a good package, that’s why so many people go for it. Everything about it is adequate, the radio controls are easy, the engine is there, forward visibility is great. But absolutely nothing about it is fun or exciting.

If you want a tall wagon/hatchback get a Fit. Better MPGs and much more fun.

They’d have to and AWD got an offraody version. It really does feel huge from the driver’s seat. It reminds me a lot of a Honda Element actually just not as cool. And it has less nifty pockets in the dash.

I had one as a rental while my Volvo was in the shop and I liked it, overall. My rental’s keys weren’t as bad as yours, but they would only pop out about 1/2 way and expect me to do the rest. I assume it is the accumulated hand grime of the unwashed masses. Better to just add yours to the pile.

Overall I was struck by the value for money. Considering you can pick up a rental spec Soul with a manual transmission for $13k new , it is an incredible value. I seriously had to talk myself out of buying one just for the hell of it. Even with the slushbox acceleration was adequate. I can only imagine that with a manual it might actually feel a little peppy. A little. Not a lot.

Anyway, learn to embrace the cheapness of it and remember: it could be worse. You could be in a Mitsubishi Mirage. Walking is better (and safer) than being in a Mirage.

The biggest problem I had with them is the laughable rear cargo space and rear seat space for occupants sitting behind the driver.

It is pretty tiny, and the load floor is very high. I think there’s a good size cubby underneath the load floor but still. It’s like it’s SUV it it’s not it’s a FWD only hatchback

I had one as a rental and was a bit surprised to find myself sitting at or near eye level with most SUVs.

My wife was pretty surprised too. She looked at me and said “isn’t this bigger than a mid size?” which is what we reserved. And the hieght is the main reason for that, the hieght and tall roof make the car feel bigger
