$43,000 bid and it didn’t meet the reserve. Someone on the auction site mentioned the owner stopped looking at the invoices for the work being done after it went over $100K. What do you all think it would have taken to sell this truck? $80,000+?

I don’t care how much money went into it, a GMT400 isn’t worth over 20k. $43k was someone with way too much money or a raging alcoholic drunk bidding, maybe both.

The owner needs to sell it at Monterrey Car Week, not on the internet.
A Doug DeMuro review would help as well.

New and appropriate wheels wouldn’t hurt the sale for sure. I really don’t think I’ve seen a worse pick on a cool car in a long while. It really shouldn’t bother me enough to make 2 posts about it, but I love Chevy trucks and this one is so close to being awesome.

That was my first thought on seeing it. They’re not horrid, but I think stock wheels would do it a lot of good.

43k was generous.

Yeah.... $43k is an amazing amount of money for what it, at the end of the day, a GMT400 Tahoe. I love them to death , and love the idea of a fast one, but I can’t imagine paying a $40k premium for that. I’d rather throw $2k-$4k at some upgrades to the stock engine and get 50% there for 10% the price.

if I was a rich guy with too much money and bored of my Ferrari or classic Cobra or whatever AND had a soft spot for late 90s/early 00s GM, I could see paying maybe $60k for this. There’s nothing like it out there. There’s got to be one or two people that feel this way.
But until that person comes along...it’s gonna sit. Over 80, over 100, that’s just crazy money.

Stock wheels won’t fit over the front calipers now, I’m pretty sure.
Seems like they tried to keep it as stock looking as possible but had to change the wheels due to the brake upgrade.

What’s an LS9 worth? $10-15k? Take that and add in the value of a beige GMT400 Tahoe and you have, at best, $15,022.06.

Yeah, I’d think $50 - $60 grand is about top dollar for that kind of build, seeing as how it’d cost far more than that to build something similar. I’m not sure what the seller was hoping to get out of it, but if he thought he’d get close to his cost, he’s out of his mind.

There are a whole bunch of OEM Chevy truck wheels that aren’t Faux Chrome 20" Garbage.

Look, I hate the faux chrome look as much as anyone - it screams 1996 to me, and not in a good way. But I kinda get what they were after here, and wheel swaps are pretty damn easy.
But I’m pretty sure you’re locked into a 19 or 20 at minimum on that truck now with the brake upgrade.

I still don’t approve. There are plenty of machined aluminum wheels in the vast GM OEM stash, especially since the new generation of truck has come out and literally everything has 20's. Now I’ve made 4 angry posts about a GMT400 and I’m questioning my life choices.

You just need to buy it and make those wheels right!!
Although I think it should have sold at $43k, who knows what the owner thinks it’s worth.
