"sm70- why not Duesenberg?" (sm70-whynotduesenberg)

To earn a bit of extra cash on top of my summer internship, I got a job running deliveries for a family friend’s business. It’s only a few hours a week, but I enjoy it and it has me going to every corner of the city. I also get to do it without putting miles on my car. They put me in this lovely 2008 Toyota RAV4 Limited 4WD with less than 80k miles, although it’s not as much fun as the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Ask me anything about it I guess.

What do you normally drive, and of the two which one would you take:
* on a fun road
* off road

Ask them to trade it in on a Yaris with a stick

I remember the time when literally every third car on the road was this one LOL.
Does the “4wd” system even do anything?

If I were to chose a part time job on that level, this’d be it. I’ve always wondered something about a job like this, do you ever get bored in traffic or are you still enthusiastic about it? Or in other words, do you feel like you have to entertain yourself with the radio or a talk show or podcast, or do you just listen to whatever and just drive around?

Isn’t the Limited the one with the 3.0 or 3.5 V6?
If so: Speed demons.

My daily is a Saab 9-2x Aero. I’d prefer the Saab on a run road, but for all but the lightest off-roading I’d take the RAV4.

I just have my favorite oldies station on and cruise around. I’m paid hourly and have been asked not to rush so it’s low-stress.

The V6 was an option but sadly this still has the 4.

It’s FWD until it detects slip, then it activates an electronic coupling to send power to the rear as well. It’s not the best system but it does work, and it returns better fuel economy than you’d expect by being FWD most of the time.

What’s the interior space like? A V6 Sport may be my next vehicle.

Idk. This is an auto so that’s better but the Saab has more comfortable seats.

Hey, that looks familiar! My dad drove an ‘06 Limited that was equipped exactly like that for about two years, except it was green. I wrote a rather sarcastic review on it here: https://oppositelock.kinja.com/2006-toyota-rav4-a-review-no-one-asked-for-1728096004
I think if I re-reviewed it, I’d be kinder now that I have developed quite the Toyota brand loyalty. Looking back, it really wasn’t a bad car, but the life it lived before we got it definitely did not help its cause; it was not taken care of very well. Less than 80k on that one seems ridiculous in comparison to the 200k+ we had on that one! Supposedly our old RAV4 is still being driven today so that one’s got a lot of life left in it!
