Not true if you raise the right taxes. Also you need to see where the most tax burden falls and it’s mostly on the middle/lower class here in Mexico because our top tax rate is 35% @ 250,000mxn/month, it’s too cheap.

Also, if there was a tax on the revenue from real estate especulation in Mexico City, there wouldn’t be a problem at all. But the same people complaining about gentrification complained about the tax.

Which is taxed even less. We need a much higher tax rate on all income, not just wages, but capital gains, stock options, whatever. I’m not saying let’s go back to 90% like it was after WW2, but more than 37% and we definitely need to up the top capital gains tax from 20%

A good tax accountant pre-Reagan would still have made sure their clients never paid anything close to that amount. Whatever loopholes were removed in 86, new ones have crept back in. The current joke of a law lowered rates, threw in more freebies for the well connected, and has problems that still need to be addressed because it was rammed through with little debate or analysis.
