That fucker should have their car impounded for 30 days their license suspended. I fucking hate when people do that.

Unsurprisingly it’s a BMW.

I would have just taken the air out of the tires. Or maybe just blocked it until a tow truck came to take it away.

Of course it’s a blacked out X6.

Firstly, that BMW makes me re-think my position on keyeing another person’s car.

Secondly, I suspect the ramp is a standard length but it’d seem that the blue zone is not wide enough to accommodate the chair comfortably, even if the BMW was respecting the bounds, it would’ve been hard to maneuver the chair in that small space, I think those should be made a bit wider.

This conversation sounds familiar.

Screw anyone who parks there.

Yeah, it seems like there’s just barely enough room there, probably holding to some minimum requirement in order to maximize lot capacity.

Either that or the ramp on the car is too long or the special access car is parked far too much to the right.

In the end it’s the same result, shamefully. Sometimes planners don’t get to see the issues that their “meh” causes.

As a handicapped placard holder (but not in a wheelchair) I have cussed people out when they park in handicapped spots without a placard, or block the loading portion. The local Jersey Mike’s I go to is notorious for this as the handicapped spots are in front of Little Ceaser’s, and the fat fuck patrons there are too fucking lazy to park somewhere else. As I said, I’ve literally cussed people out, and they just look confused. And my mom cussed someone out last year right after I had my hip replacement, and I needed my walker.

I will never resort to keying someone’s car, but only because I can be held liable. If I could get away with it, there car would be ashes.

I bet they would not hold u liable if the end of ur wheelchair handle dug into the paint as you struggled to get past that asshole.

It does look like it would be pretty tight under the best of circumstances, but probably still useable without the BMW parked there.

Is the ramp meant to go so far out?

I don’t think the length is usually adjustable, they typically fold once or twice at the hinges and store vertically.

Well I just digged through.

This is the standard according to the Americans with Disabilities Act:

Kinja'd!!!

What does this mean?
BMW not only parked in a handicapped spot but also ate up into the 60" wide access aisle.

The van could’ve also gone to another space that was actually “van accessible” but given that the requirements under the ADA are quite low ( You can get away with only 1 van accessible spaces in a <400 car lot) maybe someone else was occupying it).

I think that in order for the van to be ADA certified, the plataform needs to be 40"*30", which means that realistically, even the BMW was in rightfully in the handicap spot and also not obstructing the access aisle, the chair would have around 25-30” to manouver (if you count that it is at an angle) which is just not enough.

In the end, fuck the BMW!

Oh damn it I should have just swung my walker out and hit the person’s car and say I lost my balance.

I think when people do this,

You would not be wrong to let the ramp drag down the side of their vehicle as it unfolded.

In fairness, most luxury cars like this do that automatically when locked.

True. And a little silly IMO. Not every parking situation requires a mirror fold.

And it’s the only thing that has broken (post warranty) on my parents’ Audi in 6 years.
