This happened. This car existed and was sold for 6 5 years. We should be ashamed. 285hp and 265 ft-lbs of pure awful and eminently forgettable.

It was so bad it was only sold for 2 years.

This has a friendly reminder about a performance car that you probably forgot existed.

I forget where I read it, but I saw somewhere that when this was introduced to replace the (Neon) SRT-4, when asked about the handling one of the SRT folks said “it’s a Caliber, we did what we could.”

Visually, it’s not half bad consider how awkwardly fugly the Caliber is to begin with. I heard these things were pretty laggy and torquesteeriffic. But very competitive stats...apparently they could run with the Mazdaspeed 3 pretty well.

It really was. My in-laws had one (it was terrible, probably worse than you’d imagine) and called it an SUV when they bought it.
