I pulled up behind this 650S (I’m pretty sure that’s what it was) Spyder on my morning commute last week. A couple days earlier I had seen a Ferrari 488 on the same road on my evening commute.

Supercars aren’t super common around the DC area relative to the amount of wealth there is here, as many of the rich people sorta kinda try to be low-key about their outward displays of wealth.

But really all that means is you see a lot of higher end Mercedeses, BMWs, Audis, Lexuses, Porsches, Maseratis and Range Rovers. Stuff that starts in the $200k bracket on up is more of an occasional spotting.

I think that one is a 12C

650S taillights are similar to 12C. At first I thought it was a 12C but the front looked like this in my rearview.

I used to travel up to DC/Balto a few times a year and was always surprised at the widespread use of beaters. Especially Corollas, for some reason. Usually missing just one hubcap.

But after enough time around DC drivers, it started to make sense why you don’t want to commute in anything nice. The international free-for-all of traffic rules didn’t help :D

They definitely are pretty common in the DMV area. I see a few a week while commuting around northern VA. Lots of daily driven supercars.

I see a few a week as well, but I feel like the saturation level relative to the amount of people with loads of money is pretty low. Seems like cars in the $80-150k range are more the sweet spot.

I had a Nissan Versa rental for a couple days while my car was in the shop recently, and I found it kinda relaxing vs. my 335xi with its stick shift, lowered suspension, and loud exhaust. The term “commuter car” quickly makes a whole lot of sense when you have a commute .

Totally. I started telecommuting a little over 2 years ago and don’t miss the driving a bit (well, I do miss keeping up with music/news/podcasts a little). It really takes a lot of the fun out of driving, so now when I drive it’s genuinely enjoyable — in any car.

The two things I miss most about Madison are Woodman’s supermarket and my short commute.
