WHY, ACCUTECH. WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO ME
Oil pressure and water temp gauge are in, wired up (thanks StudyStudyStudy!) and the oil pressure at least is connected. But... THEY’RE DIFFERENT COLORS. I can’t handle that. Pretty sure I’m going to have to cut open the sealed oil pressure gauge and swap in some blue LEDs. Hopefully that’s easy. This is something that will 100% bug the hell out of me, forever. It’s worse than the currently mismatched seats (which are plenty bad enough, thank you very much).
Problem two - The sandwich plate I used added an extra inch to the oil filter, which means I can no longer use the 1" longer oversize oil filters (which are in stock everywhere) and I have to start using the OEM size filters (which are tough to find, and local shops don’t realize there’s a difference). Should have thought of that I guess. Now I have 12 oil filters I can’t use, and 0 that I can. Rats.
Problem three - In my infinite wisdom, I oriented the oil pressure sender at the top of the sandwich plate. The sender is short and doesn’t extend past the walls of the sandwich plate. I’m pretty sure that means my oil pressure reading are completely useless right now, due to gravity and such. Shows 30-40psi in neutral, and climbs with rpm’s at the same rate as my tach needle. Sigh. Can’t fix the orientation of the sender without draining the oil. Guess it will be a month or so before I get that.
No more wix :( notice the size difference
I will say that a white filter is infinitely better than a black one. Now I can actually see it. Unsure about the nut though. Do people actually tighten these so much that they have trouble removing them..?
Maybe I’ll just put two more tweeters in...
[edit] the specs sheet clearly states “blue backlighting” and in all product videos/pictures the light is blue. Strange... I emailed Longacre, who makes the gauges. Also found out that their service department is twenty miles away from me. Smaaaaaaall world.

Oil pressure should be fine, the pressure in the ‘big’ part is going to be the same as in the little offshoot with the sender in it; there is no flow into the sender so the restriction won’t drop pressure. 30-40 at idle and climbing with RPM sounds completely normal/good.
The mismatched backlight colors, on the other hand, are obscene.
I use the K&N with the nut on the chevelle solely because of the nut - with the headers in the way, there’s no way to get a normal strap wrench on it. I don’t crank it down tight enough for it to matter normally, but if it decides to be stuck some time I’d rather not have to pull a header to change the oil filter.

Good to know. I’ve never actually had a working oil pressure gauge. In any vehicle, ever. This is all new to me haha. I’m glad I’m not only one who feels that way about the colors. I feel like we’d get along well. Hopefully the company gets back to me with a relatively painless solution.
I don’t like problems I can’t fix with an angle grinder

Agree with mm54, the oil pressure sender should work properly in that orientation. As for the lighting... You might want to swap both with LEDs from the same source... Otherwise you could be fighting color temp differences

Yeah it looks like someone forgot the blue gel/filter or something in the one. I’d hope that if everything says “this is blue” and it isn’t nearly as blue as the other it would be pretty straight forward for them to say “oops” and replace it for you. It’s one thing for a light to not look as blue in person as a picture, but when you’ve got two side by side which are to be the same...
Some day I’ll make it out your way! I really enjoyed my southerly cross-country road trip, in a year or two I may try to do the same but a north-er route from OR/WA instead of LA - lots of different Things to see!

It must be nice to live somewhere where it’s always a constant 70F and HVAC isn’t needed.

Eh. It gets cold. I’m up in the mountains each winter where it’s twenty-five below freezing, with the top down. But cold is easy, just layer up. The heat though.... Man I wish I had AC. Cooled seat inserts are something I’ve seriously considered, but that’s a pretty large project. Defrost is still usable, which is 100% necessary when it rains 366 days a year

At least you didn’t buy a pair of GTX 1070/80s in the era of bitcoin. I was shipped one with actual blue backlighting and the other with an obviously (irritating) different shade that’s blue-green (leaning more to the green side, even if you try to correct it via EVGA’s thing.)

So we blocked off all the vents because...?

Defrost and foot vents aren’t blocked. Just the 4 upper body ones that I never used anyways. I’ll never go back after living with a nice sound system
