Got another text from my dad today. It seems his dealer found something closer to the Volt he wanted. As you may recall, he didn’t want the black interior, but wanted grey cloth. He couldn’t find one locally and very reluctantly agreed to buy one with black leather. Well, they found him one with grey leather about 50 miles away, and they’re having it shipped down for delivery tomorrow! OK, it’s not cloth, but whatever - it’s not a black interior, and that’s the important thing.
The dungeon has been successfully avoided...

Agreed. They already have one car with black leather, mom’s E320 wagon. She never had a black interior before and liked the look, but refused to listen to those who know better. Now there’s always towels all over the place to avoid burning your legs; so much for the aesthetics.
It’s like paint. Years ago a friend wanted to buy a Prelude. I told him to avoid black, and his boss said to avoid metallic. What does he get? Black metallic. Dumbass. Yeah, he hated it within a few months but was trapped in one of the the stupidest financial things I’ve ever seen (until the advent of the 84- or 96-month loan) - he signed a 5 year lease. 5 freaking years. On a lease. No, just no.

5 years on a lease makes my brain hurt. There’s just no sense in that!
I understand on not listening to others though. I was picky about this car. I wanted it blue with black leather and aluminum trim and no sat nav. Everybody told me to not get black leather, but I was set on what I wanted and that’s what I got. Definitely wouldn’t do it again if I had the chance.
