Taking the postage label off the box without damaging it so you can reuse it.

But what to do when someone puts cellotape OVER the label and that tape is wrapped around the box.

Easy, make a gentle cut in the corner where the tape meets the label so when you gently tear the label off, it gently tears the tape along the label edge.

This is where it got more pathetic, even for me as I decided to remove ALL the tape.

Not going to lie, it didn’t go perfectly but I’m still happy.

There is almost always a loose corner or lift in the label, if you can get under that, just gently lift. Like in the first picture, come almost all the way back on the label.

Like Land Rover says when off roading, ‘as slow as possible, as fast as necessary’.

More fun: cellotape presumably comes from “cellophane” but “sello” actually means “seal” in Spanish.

That’s like a triple entendre or something...

Lol.

I’ve a creme brulee torch I use for cooking and when I get a parcel with one of those heat printed labels that’s hard to remove, I flash the flame from the torch over it to remove the address.

Like till receipts.

Run a flame quickly back and forward and it destroys the text.

Without damaging the rest of the paper.

Even more fun: in Spain, “cello/sellotape” is usually called fixo (a trademark, a bit old-fashioned now) or celo (which can mean both “zeal” or “oestrus”!)

In Latin America, however, it is or (used to be) scotchtape all the way, I think.
