NTSB says latest fatality in Tesla - Driver had the hands off the steering wheel seconds before fatal crash.
OK, Autonomous vehicle - How do you even work? If I put my hands on the wheel and direct the vehicle in slightly different direction than you, wouldn’t you cancel the autonomous part?
In my opinion, driving near a Tesla nowadays seems like driving near a live grenade. Never know if the pin has been pulled.
I am going to make a real effort at driving the hell away from Teslas.

What amazes me is that when I worked in a Tesla store, the product people spent a LOT of time going over everything the new owners vehicle could do. I’m sure they spent hours going over the auto pilot. Having seen and heard that first hand, I tend to blame these crashes on idiotic owners rather than Tesla.

Then I guess you won’t like Hong Kong much... when almost every other car is a Tesla, lol.
That’s the result of not having 100% duty for being electric...

I don’t know how much of the user input or non input is at fault. I have never once drove my car into a concrete wall. I bet Tesla is just reading the faint lines on the road and deciding it needs to correct... immediately.
There should be some sort of logic that if a car needs to swerve in a non avoidance maneuver to such an extent that some value of G force is exceeded or some level of degrees, it should NOT do that.
You’re driving straight at 55 mph, it’s highly unlikely the road will turn 90 degrees in less than 5 feet into a concrete wall.

You’re right. I won’t like it at all in Hong Kong.

It’s not an autonomous vehicle, that’s the problem. Calling the assistance feature “autopilot” was an insanely bad idea, as the base will take it at face value in their quest to appear hip and techy. Book smart street stupid, or something (or just lucky). These are the people who had VCR and microwave clocks blinking “12:00" all day in 1985.

I have to give you more stars for blinking time on VCR and microwave. You know... those people didn’t die off. They didn’t vanish off the face of the earth. They are still here. Still calling their tech savvy kids to figure out how to change input on TV from cable to VCR... and yes. They still have VCR and Tesla.

Indeed, they are still here, now with even more (or most of the) money.

Except the part of the report that says the last warning the car have the driver to put his hands back on the wheel was 15 minutes prior to the accident. I think other manufacturers do it every minute or two.
