Next Jimny has broken cover...this one is believed to be the kei version with a 660 cc engine and a narrow track. Export versions will have wider track, body extensions and bigger 1.2 and 1.0 turbo engines.

Maybe our next rural town shopping trolley?

So the Swift has a 1.2 turbo with 111hp, still sounds down on power for a 3k pound off roader.

190hp in a XJ at 3,300lbs was nice, but I don’t think I’d want any less.

The 1.2 will be without the turbo. The 1.0 turbo has higher outputs and would be the premium engine.

As for whether it’s enough...the Jimny is not and never has been a speed machine. So it’ll be fine. Besides it won’t be coming to America anyway.

Would have to be a 4 door. 2 door Wrangler sales are down to 20% compared to the 4 door.

Agree, my Feroza had 100 hp or maybe less, at a similar weight. Thing was glorious.

Hope it comes with a nice hard wearing interior. If I somehow got wealthy I’d totally daily a brand new one of these and I don’t think I’ve considered doing that with any other new car.

4 door Jimny is not a Jimny. That’s what the Vitara is for. But America won’t understand that either...that’s why you get X5's.

The Wrangler has never been a speed machine either, but its still at 13-15lbs per hp. The Jimny’s 27 lbs per hp seems slow.

But you’re right I’ll probably never drive one anyway. I just like the idea of a mini Wrangler and was curious.

I don’t particularly see it as a Wrangler competitor, more of a Renegade competitor, due to the kei car scale.

I’m kinda disappointing they went with a retro look (I know earlier Jimny’s were also Jeep knockoffs.), instead of the outgoing cute but tough look, but that pales to the excitement i’m feeling that it’s not discontinued, true to it’s roots and no 5door version.

Looks chunky and fantastic. Wonder if there’s gonna be a removable hard top version... might be too much to ask for. XD

Gotta say, my Feroza (similar class of car/4WD) was awesome - decent fuel economy, compact, tons of storage space... and then you can go beach hooning on the weekend. Miss it so much.
