So I’m gonna fix it by adding some thiccccc.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

I ordered these tires a couple weeks ago, and they’re finally arriving...which is to say one arrived today and the other three are due in tomorrow. UPS is weird. But anyway!

These are about 2.5 inches wider than the current 215s, and are going to look awesome on the car once I lower it. For $50 apiece, if they get used only for autocross and car shows, they’ll be money well spent because holy shit do they look awesome.

Tomorrow if I have time during the day, I’m going to pull one of the rear tires off the Monte Carlo and measure up my backspacing. Basically I pull tire, sit this one in its place, and see where the hub falls in relation to an imaginary 8 inch wide wheel. It’s either going to be a 2 or 3 inch backspace...I’ve seen one with 3, but I want to push them out all the way to the edge of the fender flare so 2 inch might be the way to go.

Once that’s done, I’m going to order a pair of wheels (I don’t need all four yet, so I can do this in drips and drabs), get two tires mounted, and see how they look on the car. They’re going to look awesome, but I want to see it anyway.

Wow. Will the even fit? What size wheels are they going on? They will look pretty awesome.

Oh yeah, they’ll fit. They’re going on a 15x8 Bassett 8 hole steelie...with the back spacing, I’m actually pulling the whole wheel out away from the car quite a bit, so I don’t anticipate it rubbing on anything. Its gonna look fantastic though, thats the most important part, haha.

I actually really like the look of the stock SS wheels, but yeah tires have moved on. So how about a 17x8” replica? Though these are pretty spendy, $240 a wheel.

I’m extremely excited to see how great it’s going to look. The car is black with the red stripe on the side, so the silver wheels will give it a Rowdy Burns in Days of Thunder look, and to me that’s the best looking race car of all time.

Damn. Those wheels look really nice. We are going to need to see pictures when things are all mounted up. What do you have for power in your car? If I recall, you swapped something awesome in, right?

No swap yet, I’m planning a fairly mild 350 build for it for the winter. All I’m going to do on the 305 that’s in it is change the carb and manifold...and then throw a nitrous setup on it and see how many times it’ll take a 250 shot before it expires, haha. I’m also going to do a manual swap, maybe with a Saginaw 3 speed because I think it would be neat in an old school stock car way.

Nice! I have a 350 in the El Camino. It has a intake, headers, and a 2.5" catless exhaust with an H pipe. Originally it had a Edelbrock 1406 on it and I went with a Holley Street Demon 625 which I really like. It has been far easier to tune and the throttle response is as close to a fuel injected car as I have had in a carb. I would like to swap the heads to something less crappy and put in a milder cam with a bit more low end torque, but that’s on the back burner for the time being. I just want to drive the car.

I am taking it to Chevy Nationals in Carlisle, PA in a few weeks which will be it’s first longish drive in a year. Should be fun!
