Miatas look better with a front lip and supposedly it helps improve stability at highway speeds!

Corvairs are the same.

I figured it was just a placebo effect but It did seem a lot more planted over 65mph.

Hancha Group Consulting did a NA Miata aerodynamics anaylsis model to show how much of a difference a front lip, splitter, and lower ride height can improve downforce. The page is mostly about S2000 but near the bottom talks about the Miata as an example. https://robrobinette.com/S2000Aerodynamics.htm

Take the low pressure areas under the mid and rear sections of the Miata model in these graphics with a grain of salt. This simplified model has an almost flat bottom which will generate downforce if low enough to the ground.

#3 has small air dam, 4 has small air dam + splitter, 5 has large air dam, 6 has large air dam + splitter. Setup 6 (large air dam + splitter) has a very low pressure area under the entire splitter and generates the most downforce and least drag.

And I lowered it a bit too so that must also be what I’m feeling according to that. Felt like it pulled harder at highway speed too. I would love to try a hardtop out.
