Neat! Looking back at your introductory post, you’ve got some seriously cool cars.

Was looking to your segment! Shame it focuses more on value than on the car, itself, but you did well David! :D

How long as the oil injector been in-op? I imagine finding parts for that isn’t going to be happening anytime soon...?

Ya, it was a lot of fun to film! The only thing that drives me nuts about the segment was that they cut my reactions from different parts and pasted them in places to make it look like I was upset or something. Like after he finishes telling my in-op oil pump is going to hurt value, you can actually see me breath in to reply, then they cut away to some shot of me spacing out, but the soundtrack makes it look like I’m upset.

Speaking of the oil pump, it really just leaks and I’m too lazy to cut a new seal for it out of some gasket material. Other than that it works fine. But because the leak was pretty severe, it’s disconnected at the moment until I get around to getting it back up on stands. I’m lucky in that it doesn’t need any parts, just a few hours of my time.

Parts are pretty nonexistent though, you end up having to make stuff, repair what you have or retrofit from newer cars.

Thank you!

It’s crazy to think that that segment got watched by something like 700,000 people or something!

It’s great to see a show like this that would give a little car like that a chance!

Thank you!

The lineup has changed a bit since that post. The ‘79 RX7 has been sold to a kid not far from here who’s really taking care of it (better than I was, haha). The ‘84 Impulse is up for sale too, although no takers on it. I’ve also picked up a ‘92 Isuzu Gemini Irmscher R which landed in port just a few days ago. I’ll be picking it up sometime next week, so I’m super excited about that one (Oppo’s own Flavien is the one who sold it to me).

Ya, it’s a pretty rare little car. Even in Japan a lot of people never really knew what it was. Mostly though, it’s just so small and cute, it makes everyone who sees it smile!

Nothing wrong with retrofitting if it means easier parts to source and works just as well (if not better) than it did factory, in my opinion! At least if the parts are incredibly hard to come by...if memory serves your coils are from a motorbike, right? :P

Yup! Don’t remember what bike exactly, I think an old Kawasaki 2-stroke triple. The reverse light is actually a cheap motorcycle tail-light with a clear lens, but no one seemed to notice, haha. The plug wires or from a kit for a Chevy V8, the shift knob is made of brass and was turned on a lathe by my father, etc. etc. There’s tons of little parts here and there that have been replaced or modified to make it usable again.

Right!!! I forgot about that shift knob, very cool! I do love that little car. :D

Have the 117 all back up and running again now? :)

It’s running well for the most part! I’ve got nearly 100 km on the engine, so it’s about time for the first oil change since the rebuild. It has a bit too much oil pressure, but I’m hoping a change and few more miles will put it where I want it to be. In a weird series of events, all four of my Isuzus actually run at the same time, so I’m going to wash them and line them up for a family picture tomorrow!

Wait...4? Which ones am I forgetting? It’s late here and maybe my brain isn’t working...I am remembering the Bellett and 117, and one I seem to think you imported semi-recently through Flavien (red, but I forget the model - Irmscher?). What am I missing?
