Hasn’t Trump’s staff had enough turnover already that we shouldn’t be putting them in Ospreys?

If I was President, I think I’d be pushing to be allowed to ride in the MV-22s. The moratorium on them seems silly to me. How old are the VIP Sea Kings now? 30 years old? 40?

I doubt they’d put the POTUS in an Osprey unless bad times. I’m surprised they’re using it at all for POTUS duty.

Ospreys are actually safer than helps . But until you can autorotate one, you’ll never see the POTUS in one.

Old to be sure, but meticulously maintained. Until an Osprey can autorotate, they won’t carry the POTUS in one. The staff, however, is expendable. Thing is, the Osprey is safer than a helicopter .

I saw 90 seconds of that movie once. That was plenty.

To be honest, everything since Janury 21st of 2017 has felt like a videogame

I’ll give this a read later; thanks. I wonder how the growing pains with Osprey compared to Harrier.

That’s actually not the article I meant to link. I meant to link this one . Here is the money quote:

“One of the biggest problems we’ve had in the community is getting past the idea that it’s a helicopter that flies fast,” Leonard said. “It’s not. It’s an airplane that hovers. And if you fly the airplane like a helicopter, yes, it’s very difficult to fly as a helicopter. And if you do that, you have a very good chance of having a problem with controllability because of the way the aircraft operates. If you fly it like an airplane and you are willing to take the time to understand the capabilities of it in helicopter, it’s a very, very easy airplane to fly.”

Hmmm ... but a 747 doesn’t autorotate ... or glide very well.

Yeah, but four engines.

at least they have a built in torque tube tying both rotors together so that in the event of an engine failure, one engine can drive both rotors.

One massive bird-strike away from failure. Or incorrect fuel loading ... anything that puts gravity in the driver’s seat.
