LGR made a video of version 7 and goes much more in depth. I was able to find a 5.0 version and will share some screenshots of that. Basically Ford provided customers and potential customers of software that ran on MS-DOS and provided a virtual showroom of their models.. There was even a basic driving sim but it got boring really quickly. More on that later.

I’m sure I posted in the Jalopnik article, but you can play it here:

https://archive.org/details/msdos_Ford_Simulator_5.0_1994

Just click the power icon and it will start right up.

You can also check out older versions here:

https://archive.org/details/software?and%5B%5D=ford+simulator&sin=

All of them are playable, except for Ford Simulator 7, which you need to download and install to use.

There’s also a Merkur version that I am still looking around for.

This is interesting, final run Tempo, which ended for MY 1994, co-existing with Windstar, which was 1995 MY vehicle - everyone’s favorite 3.8 van must have been an early release.

Wow....I remember having this CD. Doubt I still have it...probably thrown away with a stack of those AOL CD’s that came in the mail every other week.

it’s pretty cool when you consider it came out in the late 80s/early 90s

If it can just simulate the engine stalling on the Tempo, it would be like re-living high school all over again.

I was wondering that too cause my uncle had a ‘95 Windstar and I was pretty sure that was the first year of production. Might’ve came out in mid-late 94 as a 95 model

They also had a “Merkur Simulator” version that was just Merkur.

I googled it, March of 94 release. They probably had a large amount of unsold Tempos hanging around, too.

Someone’s grandma probably has a nice one stored away somewhere.

We had one in the family back in the day - not the most perfect car, but a bunch of kids beat on it for years and it kept going without mechanical issues.
