I didn’t hate it but didn’t like it either. Seemed like a very mediocre movie, didn’t seem internally constant either. I’m not a marvel fan though, having watched only Thor and now this. I’ve watched clips and scenes and read enough on all of them to stay sort of up to date but never really had an interest in watching them. I might watch infinity wars eventually to see what all the todo is about but really I would only watch it for Loki and Thor. Also, yes I’ve watched and read all the available spoilers for it.

These films are all jittery mediocre movies. I do like the Guardians films, they are just meant to be insane Sci Fi fun, even a damn racoon. I just watched how cuts have become horrible messes since around the first Bourne films, it’s degraded everything with action to millions of cuts instead of steady, longer scenes, perfect for people with no patience and look at smartphones all day. They showed how Jackie Chan would go through a long sequence and it was satisfying when it concluded and you saw it all without jumping around, back to back it’s pretty amazing how far it’s gotten. I haven’t watched many of them, I did see Ragnarok because Jeff Goldblum, it’s Jeff Goldblum. I did get a copy of Infinity War, I heard Guardians were in it, also I thought Dr. Strange was good in it. I never read the comics, I don’t know who some of these characters are.

I had totally the opposite experience. I was expecting a standard comic film plot, where some paper thin laughably evil bad guy gets defeated by our lovable heros, but I was pleasantly surprised. You understand where Killmonger is coming from, and he honestly has some good points that instill some self-reflection and growth in T’Challa. I thought it had great structure and narrative consistency.

But I mean, if you don’t really like Marvel... it is still very much a MCU movie.

Okay but hear me out. Thor Ragnorok is the best Marvel movie yet.

The funnies, entertaining, most colorful MCU movie yet. The best part is the villain barely matters. It’s all about the story and friendships between other characters.

Ragnorok was the exact opposite. It’s villain was paper thin, she couldn’t have been anymore 2d. Badass bad girl is obsessed with power, and gives no shits. Okay cool.

But she’s barely significant. Story is just about the good guys, and their story. and I’m okay with that when they have a story to tell.
