Here we find my wheels for the next few days.
Unusually in my experience of hire cars, it has spark plugs. It’s also the first VW I’ve ever driven.
First impressions are that it goes really rather nicely. It spends an unusual amount of time going very quietly because it has an aggressive stop/start system that stops the engine when you coast downhill, a new one to me.
Seven speed DSG and fancy radar cruise control came with it, also sat nav and pairing to the iPhone of some Russian called Andrei.
We’ll see how it fares.

Yes. I’ve sat behind the wheel of one other, an XL1 as it happens.

You should hang your head in shame! You can take the bus any day. A shiny new Golf, less so.
