This is a Ford Ranger. The Oz version. This is not a Ford Ranger Raptor. But we can now have it, in the last quarter of this year, with the Raptor driveline (2 litre biturbo diesel engine and 10 speed automatic). And the Everest wagonised version will get it too...even in a RWD only format!!

So does that mean that the Raptor version is, from a simplistic sales POV, now just an expensive suspension pack option?

I’m fairly sure that Ford wouldn’t want me thinking that but I’m thinking that...and I think Ford are a bit silly to let me so easily think that thought.

Strongly highly doubt it...even the motoring websites are saying it’s the same engine and gearbox combo and all that info comes straight from the Ford press kit.

Isn’t the Raptor just a trim level? Like on the F150, it’s a higher trim with a suspension and power bump, that’s all. Probably the same for the Ranger.

Fords gonna go the way of BMW/M, Merc/AMG, heck even Fords own ST.

pretty much. it gets new fenders/hood, the suspension package, a power bump for the Ecoboost 3.5, and a few bits of farkle here and there.

Does it come with a $15,000 premium over the highest specification in the range? Because the Raptor Ranger will. And it appears you’ll still get the same driveline as two spec levels below it.

well, in a manner of speaking, it does. F-150 Raptor is $10k (to start) over the Lariat, which is (AFAIK) the highest trim level the Ranger will have in NA. no Platinum, Limited, etc.

Yeah no...not the same. Titanium spec is top spec here and very full of fruit. It approaches mid 60 grand plus on road costs. Raptor Ranger will be 75 grand plus ORC...
