As in a Chevy Colorado/GMC Canyon, basic work spec, manual RWD, then putting in GM LTG crate engine.

I’m having a slight craving of my own for a van.

I don’t need it, I wouldn’t use it but that doesn’t stop me wanting it.

Ford Transit Custom M-Sport R-Spec 2.0TDCi EcoBlue 208bhp.

The regular cab first gen Colorado/Canyon are the perfect size small truck to me. Regular cab Rangers/S-10s/Tacos/etc are all insanely cramped and uncomfortable, but the Canyonrado regular cab is downright roomy. When I test drove them, I had to pull the seat up a click. Damn near bought one, definitely would have if I lived in a cramped urban area.

It’s almost exactly the same size as the S10 that went before it... but it does feel roomy. I don’t know what they’ve done, apart from having seats with almost no bolstering... I’m sure that helps.

Whatever it is, it feels much bigger than it is inside for sure, and that makes it (for me at least) quite relaxing to drive for long distances

The cab of a regular cab S-10 is WAY smaller.

Nope. Just feels that way.

2003 Base Reg Cab S-10 vs 2004 Base Reg Cab Colorado:

Front Legroom - 42.4" vs 44"

Front Headroom - 39.5" vs 39.6"

Front Hip Room - 53.6" vs 53.3"

Front Shoulder Room - 56.9" vs 57.1"

The biggest gap is an extra 1.6" in legroom... not what I’d call significant. I agree it feels less cramped, but it’s not actually extra interior volume that’s doing it... there’s something else going on there. Maybe the dash is further ahead or something.

Well, an extra 1.6" in the worst dimension of the S-10 is actually pretty big, but perhaps the dash/steering is also farther away.

That’s fair, but it still wouldn’t be much more than that extra click you pulled the seat forward.

It’s interesting.

However the packaging works, regular cab S-10's are torture devices for me, whereas the regular cab Colorado was so comfortable I damn near bought one.

With The Crazy Kanuck wanting a truck, a Ford Ranger M-Sport was starting to creep in but the Transit still had my attention.

Then there’s the Connect M-Sport.

OMG where can I buy the Connect M Sport?

What are the specs on it?

Afraid to say, probably anywhere but North America.

This one is a standard 1.5TDCi, 118bhp.

From what I can glean it’s mostly a bodykit with some wheels and interior work such as seats and steering wheel.

I know the original Transit Custom M-Sport was £6,000 in accessories.

If I could buy M Sport a Connect in the US I would go buy one this weekend. They look amazing.

I suppose if you had the cash and someone who could fit it, buy the kit and have it delivered.

We had one pretty much like that in our family once, except it was an automatic transmission. Very reliable piece of machinery, highly recommend getting one if you want it.

Shame they didn’t build them like that with the LH8/LH9 under the hood, but maybe one could be swapped in from a wrecked H3 or something?
