Should I be concerned?

So I bought a different trunk for my Si because I hate the wing and mine looks like some kid pelted it with rocks (quite possible). The company I bought it from has a good reputation amongst the 8th gen community, so I thought “this is fine.”

The trunk was shipped Friday and I was told “we’ll get you a tracking number the moment the shipping company gives us one.”

Uh...wait what?

I followed up with them and the last email last night I got was “sorry for the late reply...still no shipping # but we assure you it’s on the way.”

I feel like I should slowly hover my mouse over my CC account to dispute this charge....

Picture for your time: Here’s one of two Land Rovers a project manager at my dad’s job owns. Not pictured is his fleet of cars in front of his house.

Not actually that troubling. Oversize objects like that and the whole trucking company thing... a little looser than shipping FedEx, to say the least.

I don’t think you should be concerned. I wouldn’t worry about it unless you don’t get it in a couple weeks. If you are really concerned you can ask the seller for an ETA, and start worrying if they don’t make that. Plenty of places for the tracking number to get “lost” in the process while still having the item on the way.

I’ve had the same experience a few times, always got what I ordered. You’re likely fine. I do agree it’s a little odd.

Also having a good reputation amongst the general populous of Honda enthusiasts may not be the best metric...

This. If it’s a truck freight shipment you are operating in a different realm. They are not as customer-facing as FedEx or UPS.

Also, if you are required to sign/inspect it, absolutely do that. Do not let the delivery person leave until you’ve looked at every inch of the panel.

Nothing to add, but this statement is the absolute 100% truth. Once the freight driver leaves, you are on your own if something isn’t perfect.

In the past 18 months I’ve rejected more panels than I’ve accepted. And that’s brutal damage- not just a bump or nick here or there. That stuff stays. Some damage is expected but it’s not supposed to look like it was flung to my place via trebuchet.
